I think it’s OK for Perth fans to be worried now

Team sucks 2-8 out of their last 10 games.

Flex offence has run its course.

Team looks disinterested.

Gleeson doesn't have the answers Sway!

Shocking dereliction of duty by head office, two seasons running.

It sucks but I was right, the club have been exposed - they sat on their hands hoping to ride it out, it's kind of worked since the deadline is nearly here so no doubt some of the blind faithful will take it down their throats.

This just in - Homicide coming to Perth on Sunday!

I think members and non-members need to boycott attending the game. The numbers drop to 8000 and management (and maybe the AFK owner) will take notice.

You may as well say it. It's not like they are going to pick up Simmons, Bolden, Dellavedova, Mills, etc.. other than another import what option do they legitimately have? I would go a real nasty 4 man about 6’9 in size with length and athleticism who can shoot the 3 and handle and defend the 5 spot for 5-10 mins a contest. Bring him off the bench to play with the we one unit for the next 2-3 games the start:

Cotton, White, Kay, New import and Brandt. Can pound inside the smaller teams and play run n gun with the speedier teams like Adelaide. A Josh Childress type would be perfect

#981 maybe nit but he isn't available.. that type of player and it may not make difference but right now it’s like they are at the casino, started with $500, were up $1000 but are down to their last $50. Worth a long shot straight up on the roulette table and maybe a miracle turnaround because if they stand pat it isn’t happening.

Funny thing is Wagstaff in an interview during the week (for his 300th) said in Dec 2016 the Cats were way down the standings and won the Championship- he forgot to mention they right then picked up a great import (Cotton) who just happened to be the difference. 45 points in game 3 of the grand finals was one hell of a difference as well as the fact he got them there.

Ok as atrocious as the Wildcats are playing and bloody oath they certainly are, that doesn't mean that we as fans and members shouldn't go absolutely ballistic the whole game vs Melbourne... we have a right to be angry as we all pay for overpriced seats with overpriced beverages and food... but we normally get to see a win.

That's not the case right now and we aren't getting value for money. For those wondering about the Taipans game; we are never loud vs them as there is too many ex Wildcats in that squad and we were basically moaning with the occasional laughter until the last couple of minutes of the game when it got closer.

We should be doing better than that and if Wildcats still suck, then a boycott is an idea.

I think Isaac's right there.

We can’t know for sure, but I think Wildcats management decided to make those 2 the “big spend” for season 2018/19. I suspect that coaching staff entered the season knowing that there would be no more funds available to buy new players during the season.

Kay and Norton are an investment for the future, but the ageing bench contributors haven’t been able to get enough done. Perth looked good in early season, but struggling now others have topped up.

Yeah, I don't think that you can fault where Perth have spent their cash this season... Norton, Kay and Cotton, it's just that their support staff hasn't really been up to scratch...

Silver lining, at least next season we might get to see what it's like with Matty as a head coach? And it might be good for Cats fans to have an off season and have their playoff streak end... start fresh, test the team a bit and see what they can do...

UseTaHoop

Further to Kay & Norton being future investments:
what length are their contracts;
when are Jarvis, Wagstaf and Vague out of contract? We can't know what $ they’re on, but that figure will be free when they’re off contract.

Is Martin continuing, and if so does his contract include a set payment for next season?
If he’s off contract, he’d still be worth keeping for veteran leadership and reduced minutes, and might be amenable to earning a lesser amount that would be included in the lowest 5 salaries. Again, this would free up $ for an improved roster next season.

With Phoenix in next season, Perth could be in a very good position if Kay and Norton are signed for a few seasons, because Australian talent will be harder and more expensive to sign.

With no cap, why would they cry poor? They've had monster crowds and charged up for tickets. They'd have serious profits from recent years.

I think they've sat on their hands for reasons other than budget. I imagine the thinking is that an incoming import isn't going to take minutes from Kay, Norton, Cotton, White, Martin, maybe Brandt. So what role would they have available? A lot of modern basketball is having a well-drilled roster that knows the plays inside out. You'd be betting against Wagstaff and Hire who would know their plays as well as anyone - that's been a part of their success over the years. Whatever a new scorer brings, they may undo with rocking the boat or missing defensive assignments.

I'd say they're erring on the side of "we can turn this around with incremental changes" rather than a bigger gamble.

Regrettably I'm another that has been proven correct. Worrying signs have been there for some time.

As for those trotting out the same old piffle "3rd import wouldn't have made a difference" kindly just stop typing and smack yourself upside the head.

Last night wasn't a bad game. And if it was just a matter of dropping a road game to Adelaide, amongst a sea of victories, there wouldn't be a problem. Problem is, that was our Best game for some time.

The problem is that we have so many guys playing injured, and our backups just aren't there.
3rd import? With Kay and Brandt injured, Jervis struggling, and Wagstaff checking out Retirement Villages, you think a decent big would go astray?

I just hope we can maintain the streak.

I wonder if perhaps Perth Management were caught by surprise by their early success? Because it seems that all along they have treated this as a rebuilding year.

I don't understand why people are calling for Gleeson's head?
If we can resign the guys we want on limited dollars and free up some salary for 2 more decent imports, we're looking very good for next season. Especially if me get the right Next-Star player, and decent DP.

@ Cats for life, that sucks, but I'm not surprised. I lived in Adelaide for 2 years and haven't never experienced as much racism as I did over there. Kay & Norton were a bargain at 150k a head. Considering the 9/10000 bums on seats Perth have the resources to throw more than enough cash to secure almost anyone they like.
We all love Cotton but like all super stars from the USA scouting reports are limiting him unlike any previous season
Wagstaff in a Boomers Jersey under Leumanis played well. Can only guess why he underperforms under Gleeson's direction. Hire is yesterday.
