Thank you anonymous,
I will try extra hard at the Australian Open, not just for you but all of my other fans,
Sincerely
Roger
They should play the Australian Open in Adelaide. It would seem fitting that the most boring sport gets played in the most boring city.

I personally black-banned the Australian Open when they took away paying the ball kids.

I follow tennis but all year round, really don't understand why people only follow it during the most boring month of the year since the players are starting their season so aren't 100%. Oh wait, since it's in our country it means it's good - then forgotten about. Sheep. Give me a break, the rest of the season especially May-June onwards is the best when things really heat up.
There's always something special when there are big matches in your own country and timezone. Yes, the other big tournaments are fun too but are often on whilst we are asleep.
I find most tennis matches are on when I'm asleep.

European summer i.e. French Open clay, Wimbledon grass, even Masters tournaments such as historic Monte Carlo are the best. Although I am in Perth so our timezone suits it better than the east.

The clay season is a bit predictable. Nadal won, result later

Perthworld, what's your favourite tournament?
look at that all 3 of the multiple personalities talking to each other what are the odds

Well shit, you're an anonymous poster.
All you pricks are the same to me.
PW, can't go past Gstaad and Queen's for spectacle and Aus Open for overall excitement level

Wimbledon for a major.
Monte Carlo for a smaller tournament purely due to the scenery.

Wimbledon is crap for quality because people don't play grass 11 months of the year. Surely you will look to any of the other three majors if quality is so imperative.
Monte Carlo, yeah that's another. Admit it, you can't beat Queen's Day 1... pristine grass with the brick clubhouse right beside the court. Gorgeous
Aus Open is the most well-run and accommodating-to-players slam on the calender. We have the most impressive tournament on the tour, it's a real feat. Not something that can be dismissed

Can't say I've ever paid detailed attention to Queen's being a minor tournament. I follow tennis but not *that* closely. Re: Wimbledon - probably just a sucker for the history and the club's charm. They should play more grass during the season.
Using a crap username like Manu Fieldel or Perthworld doesn't make you better than any anon.
No one knows who you wankers are.

James Harvey liked grass, clay... pretty much everything.

Perthworld, your tone about January will surely change next year with the World Tour Cup. Players are getting happier with the Aus Open every year, and it's becoming as prestigious as the other slams

World Tour Cup LOL... more garbage team based tournaments yay. ATP only set it up to counter the privately run Laver Cup.
Oh, you're actually a troll in every thread, not just Perth ones. Can't fault your consistency I suppose.

What? I don't mind Davis Cup but don't see the point of all these new team based tournaments especially since it's become political and a way to defend perceived turf.
you will love it if every team is allowed to have 3 import players

A big day today at the Sydney open. Possibly twin Aussie titles!

Well Vardy just couldn't guts it out as well as her opponent and came in a tough second but De Maneaur did a great job winning his first major, well done to both!

Andy Murray has announced he will retire from tennis soon due to a bad hip. A shame, I wonder if he pushed his body too much over the course of his career?

Injuries are a way of life for professional sports persons 'W. Byrd'.
Murray will still be highly regarded amongst tennis greats.
definitely not a 'great' with 3 grand slam wins and 2 of those handed to him on a platter (i.e. never had to beat anyone good because the top players were either out injured at the time or upset out by someone else)
will be known as a great talent who wasted it by choking a lot
Your argument regarding "great" players being upset in the earlier rounds nullifies Murray's feats is ridiculous. If they so clearly outclassed Murray and their opponents, they wouldn't have been upset in the first place.
Murray's career coincided with two of the greatest, in Djokovic and Nadal, and arguably THE greatest tennis player of all time in Federer.
Despite this, he managed to win multiple grand slams and consistently rank amongst the best in the very best world for several years.
Murray was a very, very good player, probably not great but as pointed out in a time when two greats and one probably greatest ever. Great person though if at times grumpy. I wish him well.
I guess some people have a really weak definition of great

Murray's career winning percentage would be up there with the all-time greats, I would've thought?
Loving John McEnroe commentary, Kyrgios has to grow up, the mans a pratt
Kyrigos, tomic, kokkinakis. Hopefully all 3 go out first round.
McEnroe >> Courier
McEnroe is jovial, makes it fun.

Courier relegated to commentating women's matches now? Ouch.
McEnroe number one man and rightly so.
Nadal and Sharapova should play one another in grunt off, it's a f..king joke should be banned at those decibels.
Roger Federer has been knocked out by a man they're calling the Greek freak!!

Courier AND McEnroe in the commentary booth tonight
The three commentators were fantastic, really enjoyable.
Nadal is just to good, won't drop a set to win, will overtake Federer in majors.

So much for McEnroe's big statements about the new generation coming through.
Roger reminded him that one win doesn’t make someone a champion, then Rafa showed the class that the 'older generation’ have and put McEnroe back in his box
Having said that, I do love the commentary that McEnroe and especially Courier bring as both have been great champions and deserve respect (just not get carried away)
I thought Roger played pretty poorly against tsitsipas. Too much hype for the young kid, although he was very good himself. Tonight showed he's got a ways to go
Wonder if the haters of the 3 import rule are salty that having courier and McEnroe has squeezed Sam Groth out of the box
So, it's the big one. Nadal vs The Joker. Who ya got?
It was a great women's final, good tennis and tense right to the end. Osaka has lots of improvements yet, will be a great champion, very humble as well.
Agree that Osaka was quite modest but that tool Tony Jones had a really silly tone to his post match interview

Novak will be the GOAT by the time he retires
Missed McEnroe commentary, Hewit and Courier to bias towards Nadal, fancy telling us that Nadal jumping up and down in the tunnel was playing mind games with Djokovic. The joker played the mind games on the court. McEnroe would've told wake up to themselves.
Well done the joker, far to good.
What does everyone think of the new Davis Cup format this year? A bit more "world cup ish". I like it
