Melbourne v Adelaide, Boxing Day
It's 1 v 5 in the Boxing Day game. Melbourne, who are hot favourites to go back to back this season, face up against the team that challenged them last season. The big question today is whether Dean Vickerman will crack a smile. Vickerman, who reminds me of the father of a pretty teenage girl swamped by pocked face suitors driving hotted up shagging wagons, has plenty to smile about with his team in fine form and seemingly unable to lose, regardless of the conditions.
The Sixers are in the pack of Perth, Brisbane, Illawarra and New Zealand battling for 3rd and 4th spot. Wins over Melbourne and Sydney crucial for final ladder positions.
Melbourne are winning, but they are not smashing the opposition. This competition is even this year and it is the small 1%ers that separates those smiling with a win vs those not smiling (Vickerman excepted) Maybe he's just thinking about how much his wife has spent at the Boxing Day Sales "Oh, but think of how much I've saved!"
But back to the game. Matchups are good, with both teams ahead in different areas. Melbourne lead in the floppiness factor, but Sixers are better in transition.
With everyone having a bit of Christmas cheer, I'm predicting a total score of close to 200 points today, but sadly for Sixers fans, I think Melbourne might just sink one or two more threes to help themselves to Christmas seconds. Hopefully that might at least get a smirk from Vickerman.
