Nathan Sobey’s tricep tattoos
Are there any art or history majors that are able to shed any light on the meaning of Sobey's tricep artwork? Is there symbolism and imagery at play here, designed to give us some greater insight into the human condition?
My best educated guess arrives at the two most likely scenarios:
"NS" = North-South, Sobey’s favourite two compass directions and a representation of his preferred method of attacking the basket; in current parlance 'north-south’ refers to attack the basket from the top (as compared to east-west, dribbling or passing across the perimeter)
“NS” = Nuestra stadia, a Spanish/Latin influenced phrase that literally translates to “Our stadium”, or perhaps colloquial “Our house”. That is to say, wherever and for whomever Nathan is playing, it is that team’s house, usually the Brett Maher Court at Titanium Security Arena, but also a cheeky nod to claiming opponent’s facilities during away fixtures.
