Wildcats v Breakers Nov 25

What a great round this is with Perth/New Zealand games effectively book ending the round.

It started off in the land of the long white cloud with the Wildcats picking the Breakers pocket in overtime to finish 93-98. Today they head off to the land of the long white flop for the evener upperer.

What could have been the Match of the Round, the Melbourne v Sydney game, has turned out to be the half time entertainment. Kind of like the U12's playing at half time.

Make way for the big boys, this is going to be one hell of a game with the stadium packed with mad screaming Perth fans. There's probably not much difference in the teams. Both will be tired and both will be looking for the W.

My kiss of death, Perth.

Nz gave up a heap of stupid fouls sure they had some bad ones in the mix too, but everyone cops them. How many times did they foul the 3pt shooter? Braswells post match was a joke, he 100% blamed the refs and said they couldn't compete. What he should've said was if we were more disciplined and didn't give up undisciplined fouls on 3pt shooters we would have won regardless of the calls. I fully expect perth to be on the wrong end of some horrible calls today.

hell of a lot of poor sportsmanship based on good defense being rewarded on this forum. If a team plays good intense defense, they should be rewarded. There should not be an even foul count at the end of the game unless both teams play the same defense.

New Zealand were throwing hard intentional fouls at Perth in the end. How we expect an even foul count after that rubbish is beyond me. Im just glad we have some professional teams to look up to. Some of them are embarrassing as athletes and need to take a look at themselves.

Not surprising that Jack Toft would be bitching about the calls that went against the Breakers, while completely ignoring the horrible calls in the first three quarters that went against the Cats.

Wesley is going to find himself in a spot of bother for going on and on to Aylen in the dying seconds of the game, and after the game. Aylen had had enough and went and chatted to Braswell. I'd say he’s been reported, as he should be.

23-9 free throw count today cats way is more a reflection of different styles of play. Rebounding stats were even and NZ had better field goal percentage with 48% three point shooting. They have two beasts down low with Long and Wesley and many outside weapons. They should be going inside more and not relying so much on their outside shooting. Their defensive intensity was good today I cant understand why they aren't winning more games

Let me get this straight.

Perth were msising, their best defensive player, their best offensive player / creator (an injury caused by a Breaker), and Steindl for a portion of the game. Furthermore Brandt was just trying to find his feet.

Plus Braswell played the 'Ref's lurve Perth' card.

Yet NZ still couldn't close this out despite being up 16?

Sorry NZ but you are trash.

If I was Shawn Marion I'd sell even for pennies on the dollar than to have my name connected to this excrement for any longer.

"Plus Braswell played the 'Ref's lurve Perth' card."|

Fair enough too, in three games NZ have been called for 78 fouls and Perth 40. In final quarter today it was 10-2.

One of the gutsiest wins in Perth history today. Wagstaff was huge in the 2nd. Terico only had 2 points with 10sec before half time, glad to see him step up and show some killer instinct and finish with 21. Kay is an absolute machine, the future of the Wildcats looks bright with him, Norton and Cotton locked up on 3 year deals.

Sorry, but I don't even care about the fwits blaming the refs
Suck it up or get on board, I don't care. that was a win for the ages.

Gotta tell you there is nothing like that, 13,000 fans collectively losing their shit.
Wait for the baby boom in nine months.

What can you say about this team this year, they just never give up.
Fact is they haven't dominated as the ladder might suggest. 4 games in OT, one by a shot, and this one. Could just as easily be 5 - 6.
Except they play hard when it matters. Unbelievable.

I thought Hire should retire, but he is monstering the boards, never gives up, goes after everything. I'd be happy if he never takes another 3-point attempt, but otherwise what a presence to have coming off your bench.

This has probably been said before, but Norton & Kay are the new Damo & Matty.

Over the whinging about Refs & Calls.
NZ do themselves no favours with weak reactive defense and then at the other end jacking up shots outside with little penetration. They end up fouling down the stretch to stop the clock and people expect an even foul count lol.
Are the refs supposed to not blow their whistle because the Breakers foul more than their opposition and an even foul count is necessary in the name of fair play?
I've watched a few games this season and most games have been reffed fairly and most of the calls I've seen go against NZ looked to be correct.

Great to see logic and commonsense from Mystro.
Anyone watching both games would see NZ shooting themselves in the foot with their own reach in fouls particularly the fourth quarter.

People whinging about the free throw count need to watch the games properly.

When you play a more attacking style you will draw more fouls, but if you stand around taking threes and jump shots then less fouls.
Commonsense.

Craig, its obvious
Larry loves the Wildcats.
People allover Australia love the Wildcats and are disappointed they haven't won more championships.
Australian basketball fans would much rather see the Wildcats beat NZ.
Some people in NZ think there is some kind of rivalry. That isn't good for the league.
Perth was played a lot of early games against Brisbane and Illawarra. The NBL is far too popular in those markets, and they have too many fans, so the league needs to balance it out.
Perth only gets 13.5k to their games, but the venue can hold 13.6, and Perth really need the revenue from that last 100 seats.
Perth is the key to their FTA TV deal.

- Wildcats bribe the refs

All those people are yet to actually weigh in as to why the NBL/Refs favour Perth.
