Illawarra-Perth Nov 11

Don't expect the floppy cats to get 10 less fouls than the Hawks this game. The best thing I like about the Hawks crowds is they get involved. If they aren't pouring beer over pesky opposition players, they let them know from the sidelines they are playing in one of the toughest cities in Australia. Steeltown. The home of the Owen machine gun, proudly made at the BHP Springhill works.

The Hawks will be keen to coming out all guns blazing after a stirring victory against Melbourne, so this game will be bitter hand to hand combat all the way.

Perth had a great win against Brisbane earlier in the round with the Cotton 3 on the final siren being the decider.

This game will be close, there is no denying that, but when the guns fall silent, I think the Hawks will walk away will the spoils of war. The final quarter should be an absolute humdinger!

Hawks by 2.

Hawks only beat Melbourne cos of the refs, the foul count was 22 to 13. OMG how is this possible they are so biased, Perf will be robbed, whah whah whah.

Be interesting to see if Perth took anyone else with them, although can't see it helping. Can you swap injury replacement players?

I think this game could go either way. Could be very close, with a chance for Perth. Need everyone at their best, and need Jervis to really step up.
Or it could just be a one-way street for the Hawks.

Bookies had Hawks at $2.05 still until early this morning. Finally moved them to around $1.60 a few hours ago.

Really hope Perth can pull off a gutsy win today, but I don't see it happening. Playing a solid team thats coming off a big win on Thursday, playing away, missing 5 starters, day less rest. I don't see it happening.

The Hawks gave us some breathing space by beating United on Thursday, so it's only fair that they get to take it away today. They're currently 3.5 point favourites which seems fair.
IMO it's a free hit for us. Everyone has the green light to let it fly, and if they happen to drop at a decent clip then maybe we're a chance.
All I ask is no more injuries please!

I don't think steindl's start to the season was quite as bad as people thought. Imo a lot of his shots looked really good but just weren't dropping and a lot were really unlucky. When you're on a team as a shooter though and they're not dropping you look like trash.

Really happy for him that his shots are finally dropping.

Cedric Jackson is a shell of his former self. When at the NZ Breakers he could carve through a solid key, like a hot knife through butter.

Today was one of his better games, but previously he could win you the game on his own, like Cotton.

He looks disinterested to me!

Hawks will be disappointed by this one. Perth were on their knees for this game player health wise, following a tough Brisbane game. And Hawks couldn't get the job done.

Jackson used to have Bruton, Abercrombie, Corletto and Wilkinson spreading the floor for him, and Vukona and Boucher setting super screens. Even if you brought the 2012 Jackson straight across to this team he wouldn't be as effective as in NZ.

He is gradually getting better as the season goes, it will be interesting to see if Beveridge can get all the pieces to fit well together with a few more games under their belt.

I actually like the way he normally gets the job done, he normally goes hard low in the paint, all arms and legs and can do some damage. Manages to pop sum tough shots and pick up and 1s and fouls. Like his work ethic.

Why people hating on Jackson and Jervis?

Jackson close to the Hawks' best today, and Jervis was good on the boards whilst only conceding only 3 fouls. Just needs to get his touch back, and he'll be doubling along.

Easier win than I would have thought. end of the day, you're not going to win many games in which you give up 36 points in the 1st quarter. That's an AFL score.

Why on earth would people be attacking Jackson, and at the same time defending Jett?

Do you not actually bother watching games and just keep regurgitating your pre-conceived notions from the pre-season?

Jackson easily the best player for the Hawks, whilst Jett is just a bum. A one-legged dog could get up the court faster than him. He was brought in to play D and shoot 3's and he can't do either. Maybe he should spend more time in the gym, and less at the hairdresser.

Maybe Bevo should make use of his low centre of gravity (aka "giant fat arse") and play in him the post. That seems to be the limit of his range. He's a like a miniature Jawai with a bad hairdo.
