And on Deleon, he was actually good defensively, from what I saw. Very disruptive, timely steals. One steal in Cairns changed the complexion of the whole game. I thought he was solid, and certainly better value for money than Wiley (if you say Deleon signed for something like $80k and Wiley $250k).

Conger would make sense. While not great defensively by any means, he is the style of player that fits Joey's style and will probably thrive in it. Now they'll be able to switch a lot more than they could with DeLeon on the floor.

Conger started out the year very well in France but dropped away in recent games and Le Mans announced he had been released yesterday.

Totally agree re McVeigh. His lack of opportunity completely mystifies me, but then I'm not at training, so maybe there is a reason other than coach 'blindness'.

Be great to get a public [and real] explanation of why he keeps getting overlooked, but from the bleachers it looks like the coaches just can't work out how/where to use him.

On Saturday I was hoping they'd give him an opportunity and run him somewhere on the basis that he is quick and tall and looks to have multiple moves and so might have worked out a way to score and suddenly 'clicked' to give them eight or 10 points.

Most of the others - Frohling excepted - seemed to be playing like headless chooks and have no idea.

I don't know for sure, but I believe the biggest reason McVeigh isn't getting minutes is that he's been a defensive liability. He mentioned it himself in an interview that offensively he was comfortable but he and the coaches needed more from him defensively. The few times i've seen him on the court he's been a bit of a traffic cone as his opposite number flashes past him for a lay-up.
