Brisbane Bullets sign Nnanna Egwu as injury cover

25-year old Nnanna Egwu has joined the Brisbane Bullets roster as injury cover for Matt Hodgson and Will Magnay.

Egwu arrived from Chicago this morning and will suit up for the Bullets in the pre-season game against the Illawara Hawks on the 30th of September at the Sunshine Coast, and will remain with the team for the start of the regular season on October 11 pending the return to fitness of Hodgson and Magnay.

Egwu will be familiar to Bullets fans having spent the past two seasons with the Cairns Taipans. He has played 58 NBL games and averaged 5.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 24 minutes per game in the 2017-18 season.

Head Coach Andrej Lemanis praised Egwu for his commitment to the team and the group, "he is in a difficult position and we thank him for coming in and working with the team whether he get's to play or not, that speaks volumes as to who he is as a person."

A good signing even with Hodgson I think Brisbane are undermanned up front.

Wow. I genuinely thought Egwu was terrible last season. Extremely limited skill set and if it wasn't for Cairns counting their pennies, he wouldn’t have lasted the season.

Yet another lacklustre piece added by the Bullets, who seem to have had their budget shortened moving forward. They’ll be doing well to finish higher than 7th this season.

Not a bad pick up for what they would've had too offer and the short notice.

Egwu isn't the most talented player but does the little things.

Brisbane still aren't great imo regardless.

Another odd signing. Brisbane love recycling old NBL trash, maybe they think they're in the waste management industry rather than professional sport?

Wow, 5 points and rebounds a game. Surely there's someone better as a short term replacement willing to sacrifice a bit of cash to showcase themselves. Bullets have a very strange organisation.

WTF do people expect?
You think there's a bunch of top-shelf players just sitting on their arses waiting for a call from down under?

Ummm, yeah. Squads been named in training camp, be probably a few looking to get on the radar. Quick bucks in an English speaking country before their next gig.

All he knows is how to foul and cause injuries.
