Bullets considering third import after Hodgson injury
BRISBANE are set to pull the trigger on filling their vacant third import spot if Boomers centre Matt Hodgson is sidelined for an extended period with a calf injury.Full story
Hodgson hurt his calf in the first half of the FIBA World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan in Bendigo on Monday night and had scans in Melbourne on Thursday.
Bullets medical staff are hopeful Hodgson will be fit for Brisbane's season-opener against New Zealand in Auckland on October 11, but the man mountain said on Thursday he could be out of action for four to six weeks.
Still...
The Bullets looked every bit a squad ravaged by injuries as they fell to a 91-69 loss to Illawarra in the opening game of the NBL Blitz pre-season tournament in Bendigo on Thursday. Is ravaged a bit much? They had their four guards inc import Holt, stud import Gee, Bairstow, Te Rangi, Vukona, etc. Magnay isn't much of a known quantity, so it was mostly the absence of Hodgson that left them ravaged?
The offence was clunky and had little cohesion after quarter-time, and the defence lacked intensity as the disjointed build-up to the season was laid bare.
