Big V All Star 5 and MVPs

Pointy end of the season now in Big V. Anyone got thoughts on who will make the all star 5 up of each of the senior leagues?

Any clear mvp picks in the divisions?

Any clear title winners or who looks the strongest?

SCM- Eltham/Ringwood
SCW- Knox/Sunbury
D1M- Chelsea/Keysborough
D1W- Mildura/Warrnambool
D2M- Coburg/Camberwell

There are some very close divisions so it'll be an interesting finals series.

Casey Women in D1W also should be up there

SHepparton are also a good threat to win title in D1M

Corey Standefer should win MVP for D1M easily

Chelsea dont win D1 Men then they might need to spend more than 15k-20k mid season next year to get it done, clear top picks.

Kirksey shouldn't win SCM MVP, doesn't defend, costs his team 30+ points a game. on the other hand that is fairly valuable to the opposition.

Ok, so SEABL players would believe that a Big V D1 player would get 15,000 for half a season, Im a ex SEABL boy and that's one of the best Chinese whispers going around and if Chelsea could afford that then they would have to be paying their import about 30k a season

He is below average player at seabl.

Will be below average if they go to SCM.

But great for them at D1M.

In D1M it will be between Travis at Westernport & Standerfer at Chelsea, as a player at D1M I have played against them both and they are way above everyone else, though Hendrix still has his tricks.

All star 5 for D1M -

Travis
Brasser
Standerfer
Enge
Vines

How is that supporting his local club? If they win Div 1 on the back of him playing finals, he will leave them high and dry in Championship next season because they certainly aren't up to that level without him. Sobey just wants to be a big fish.

Think Kirksey and Lemons should be frontrunners for MVP of champ men. Kirksey has lead hawthorn to a better win-loss record than the previous year and has a spot in finals. Lemons has done it all for his team in points, rebounds, assists, and defense. They too have a spot in finals.

Dark horses would be Stith or Coleman!

If Sobey plays in last round he qualifies for finals.he will have played 39.13% of matches which ge5s rounded up to 40%.and 40% is the magic figure.

Sobey is showing 8 games credited for, up to date. Warrnambool have one more giving him 9 credited games. I noticed that he didn't play any games between May 19th and July 8th. In fact July 8th he is showing zero minutes. I thought you had to get on the court to be credited with a game? Looks fishy to me.

Definitely need to take the court, cannot have 0.00 in the minutes column.

That is the rule !!

The way I read it is that Sobey has played 7, missed 2 for Boomers duty which equals 9. To qualify you need to have played 40% of 24 games = 9.6, so ineligible.

Would not matter if he only registered and never played a game, league will come up with the "Blah, blah blah rule" and allow him to play under some rule that no one has seen before. They want him playing pure and simple, good luck Chelsea, Keysborough, Shepparton and others at least you can say you got there fair and square.

FYI

"5.5 Finals qualification
(a) To be eligible to play in the finals a player must have played a
minimum percentage of games for the Association's respective team
in that season. For the purpose of this clause:
1. For the player development stream the minimum percentage is
30%;
2. For the Association elite stream the minimum percentage is 40%;
3. A game played shall be credited if the player’s name appears in
the statistics file transmitted to the League and have more than
0.00 in their minutes played column.
(b) When calculating player’s games played and where the number is
not a whole number, then the number will be rounded up to the next
whole number e.g. 19.1 goes to 20;
(c) A player, who due to injury/illness fails to quality for the Big V finals
under Rule 5.5 (a), may apply in writing to the Competition Event
Coordinator at least fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the finals
for permission to play in the finals. Applications subsequent to that
timeline may only request consideration of injury/illness, which has
occurred within the fourteen (14) day period prior to the start of the
finals. In considering any application the GM shall have regard only
to two criteria:
1. Whether the player is a bona-fide player for the team as indicated
by the player being registered and assigned to the team prior to the
date of injury/illness or commencement of the season;
2. The validity of the injury or illness preventing the player from
otherwise qualifying to play as indicated by submission of a
medical certificate with dates the player was medically unfit to play
from a suitably qualified medical practitioner.
(d) If an Association is found to have played an ineligible player in any
finals game that team will immediately forfeit that game. The matter
will be referred to the GM for further action as may be determined
appropriate in circumstances, including but not limited to a fine,
penalty, or forfeit final series."

So in those rules there is no mention of an exemption clause for national or state team duties.

Not sure if it is covered elsewhere but only speaks about injury & illness.

So from that ruling, he was not injured, did not play enough games and no mention of International duties, so he should NOT play, I am reading that right?

5.3 Release for state and national commitments

Any player that misses participation in Big V scheduled games whilst
representing their state in National Championships or a country's Nationals on official national duties at national camps or playing for their country shall
have those games missed due to such participation, included in the calculations for Big V finals eligibility.

The player must have played a minimum of four (4) games for that Association to be eligible to have the missed games included in the calculations for Big V finals eligibility. Applications must be in writing to the Competition Event Coordinator at least fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the finals and the details of games missed and a copy of the release for state and/or national commitments must be included, such commitments prior to registration will not be considered in determining eligibility

Clubs were all sent a list recently of all players across all divisions who had qualified, who could still qualify, who could not qualify and who had lodged medical exemptions etc.

Nathan Sobey was listed in red as a player who could not qualify and never had any mention of exemption in the comments section like other players who had lodged exemptions.

There has been no further update from the league that I am aware of.
