Premiere League rigged

Why is Daniel Johnson still playing when he cannot qualify for finals? What is " I run this comp and will do whatever it takes to win" Andy going to try to pull over BSA this time? Will BSA take a stance against a club who is clearly attempting to rig the outcome of the men's Premiere League and show that the integrity of the competition is more valuable than rolling over for Forestvilles unsportsmanlike manoeuvres again. No-one has forgotten the Carla Borrego farce that had rules changed so Forestville supposedly couldn't cheat again yet here we are again......
If I was Nyberg, Hawkes, McLean or Rogers I would be making a lot of noise about what Andy is attempting.
Let's talk facts,
- DJ, if he suits the rest of the season, falls one game short of the needed minimum of 8 games. He will only suit 7.
- 2 of those 7 games he stepped on court for 30 seconds, once in street shoes making a mockery of SA's supposed premiere competition.
- DJ will have only actually played in 5 of 18 games in 2018 and yet they think he should qualify.
- By-laws clearly state an exemption can be given if the said player is performing "higher duties". This normally applies for guys missing games due to NBL or Australian commitments and should certainly not apply for a guy who decided to go overseas and play in another comp instead of committing to this comp.
- allowing DJ to play finals gives Forestville 3 current 36ers and an import. Let's not forget they suited a 4th 36er during the season. That's DJ, Teys, Doyle and Majok Deng plus an import. How much money can these teams spend again?

Are they going to get a doctors note to attempt to get him that 8th game? Was he even in the country as it appears he has "suited" every week he was not overseas.

BSA need to protect their competition from being rorted. They owe Forestville nothing. Forestville show no respect for the comp. They choose to boycott the Woolacott, the season launches and refused to play in pre-season officially sanctions tournament a few years back.

Take a stand BSA and make the right call here, otherwise the comp is officially rigged and a joke.

Every club has had the opportunity to get all these players.

Just because eagles got them yah can't sook about it.

Premier league exists to reward the juniors of the club. I say bravo to eagles.

They’ve done what tigers, Woodville, Sturt have all done before. Bring 36ers to their club.

Best $6 you can spend on a Bball game. And if Dj qualifies for the finals... what a game it will be.

705, competitions at all levels all over the world have measures in place to ensure the quality and fairness of their competition. If you don't see the problem with bending the rules at the expense of your own loyal players and the integrity and fairness of competition then you don't understand sport.

Clubs need to ask themselves whether their PL coaches are taking more from the sport and their clubs than they are putting back in. What is the net benefit of employing and paying these coaches back to your key stakeholders? If it is negative or zero then go and make the hard decisions accordingly.

725.

If you don't want talent in the premier league then you don’t understand the sport.

At this stage DJ and Deng cannot play finals. The individual who wrote this post is having a sook about something that shouldn’t and probably won’t happen. And to that I find it comical.

Deng and Doyle are juniors of the club so the "net benefit" there is massive.

Having said that. At the end of the day your right. Let’s bring the talent down to the lowest team - mavs.

Let’s have a competition where there are no superstars. No talent. Low scoring. And your kid might get a look in.

Other clubs need to aspire to be like “Andy” who apparently is the Jesus Christ of the premier league.

Meanwhile

West. North. Southern. Norwood don’t care about anything the eagles are doing, they’re only focusing on how to match up against them in finals.

Of course we want talent in the comp but that talent should be playing for that club the majority of the season, not as a hired gun just scraping in or in this case - not even qualifying.

Forestville obviously got something up their sleeves with DJ for finals. It's an arms race to keep up with Southern, just like Gsw in NBA. Much as I hate to admit it, have to admire sturt going with their juniors, Garth was a bust but could have probably brought someone else in and only had 1 import anyway.
Worried about other clubs overspending to keep up and getting in financial strife or raising junior fees.

Wouldn't be an issue if they weren't taking the piss out of the rules of the comp.
I don't see Southern playing their guns for 30 seconds because they don't want to actually play but need to hit the court to "qualify" for finals.

As mentioned earlier, the most farcical thing is stepping on the court in street shoes for a couple of seconds then getting subbed out. Can't have set number of minutes you have to play for game to count because then bench kids will be ruled out. Maybe have nbl/imports have different qualifying criteria, ET must play 10 minutes in game to qualify. If they get injured then it's a separate application to get an exemption.
It happens in other cases as when teams will have a starter sub on after a minute so they can play/qualify for reserves.
Not in the spirit of the game but how can it really be policed if forestville are playing to the rules set.

It must be terrible for the young Eags. Imagine training twice a week against quality players such as Doyle, Teys, DJ, testing yourself, seeing how they operate, prepare themselves and the like. And then to see how much they engage with the group, offer you tips, tweaks, suggestions on how to improve. I'd hate to be in this situation. I'm sure they are kicking themselves they are not at another club who have players holstering their fingers each time they occasionally hit a three, or bang their chest each time they make a lay up. I have heard and seen the interaction these quality guys offer the younger/aspiring players. It must be real terrible for them. Maybe it could be seen as a positive in some aspects. But I am guessing with all the haters, it might be too much of an "out of the box" concept???

I agree that there are tremendous benefits for the Eagle players to be mixing it up with the likes of DJ, Teys and Doyle. A great learning experience for young boys.
What I question though is considering the amount of games the "hired guns" have missed, how often are they even training over the whole season with these young Eagles?
Plus the way it is biasly sugar-coated makes me laugh.
How about these boys that prepare ALL pre-season, do ALL the work, attend every training and fitness session, work their butts off to play Premier League and are sat on the bench come game time and finals to watch the "hired guns" play who have hardly been around for the majority of the season - particularly DJ.
Kinda counters that great culture you are referring to.

The tall poppy syndrome describes aspects of a culture where people of high status are resented, attacked, cut down or criticised because they have been classified as superior to their peers. The term has been used in cultures of the English-speaking world.

You never hear anyone saying "Can you believe that the mavs are at it again?"

Or

“Far out! Can you believe that Souths imports are so good they're gonna make their team finish just outside the finals!”

No. Because they suck.

Top 5 teams will have a belter of a finals series.

West/southern/north/Norwood can and will take it to them

Nice try but this has nothing to do with " tall poopy syndrome"..
This is about a club who again is rorting the competition by gaining an exemption for an NBL all star, who stood on court in two games for seconds and chose to play overseas, who will only have actually played in 5 of 18 games of the season falling short of qualifying but recording 7 games due to his 2 1.5 secs on court efforts.
This is about fairness and the integrity of the competition.
No one would be saying anything if DJ had actually played in the comp and qualified apart from how many 6ers they had this season. It would not be an issue if the rules weren't being exempted for DJ and he had played and qualified. He did not, period.
I doubt the other clubs will just let this farce slide.
