Really?
It's not bad enough you have only ex-wildcats, you have to pinch that as well?
'Orange army' doesn't quite have the same ring to it

Fairly sure Cairns's Orange Army predates Perth's Red Army.

The term "Red Army" dates back to the Russian Revolution...
"Orange Army" is just some shit you made up, so it doesn't predate anything

Haha, your point was that the Taipans took the '*colour* Army' thing from the Wildcats when that's not true. Now you're trying to introduce Russia into this because you're wrong?
Funny.

I like how he's carrying on about Perth players being "pinched" by another team.

Pretty sure Red Army was disbanded after the breakup of the USSR.
The Red Army was never for "the West", so why would Perf fans adopt a moniker from eastern block militarism?
The orange army of the Dutch, on the other hand, has been involved in peacekeeping missions and humanitarian works.
Red Army is history, Perf's Version should also disband.
Also the most people of Dutch descent in this country are in Queensland. So orange army appropriate unlike red army for the west.

Not so sure about majority/ most of Dutch descended Australians in Qld.
Dutch culture enabled them to assimilate everywhere in Australia. My guess is they're probably spread across the land roughly in proportion to population size.
Tulip time in Bowral, NSW, tulip festival of some kind in Canberra/ACT also, the big clog in Coffs Harbou, NSW, Dutch pop in Adelaide fair sized. I reckon they’re everywhere.
Anyway the point is red army = west is hilarious. I bet Wildcats HQ never really contemplated what a red army is. and red as the colour for the Wildcats is also still baffling (that's another issue altogether).

Agreed.
But then, would you really expect a bunch of cashed up, mining boom enhanced Perfites to understand the subtle nuances of adopting a moniker with a pre-existing strong historico-political association?
Maybe the Red Army could be sent to work in the salt mines?
No, I wouldn't expect them to know - after all, I live in Perth.
