3 way rookie of year?

Most have their opinion of who should win Roy, but Simmons and Mitchell lead the way with it decided in regular season. But Tatum's effort in playoffs so far would warrant a mention if playoffs were included. League looks like its in good hands with these 3, all of them having major impact on their team. So should playoff performance count for something, all did great and based on how they all finished imo there's not a massive gulf between all three.

Given that most have very little idea about the game beyond the general 'narrative' and access to inside sources, yes: they aren't basketball experts.

It's definitely a contest that would have tightened considerably if playoff performances were a consideration. If Tatum continues to average even 15 & 7 and the Celtics knock the Cavs out (big IF), I would find it hard not to reward that.

Perhaps one of the bigger conversations should be around when we've seen three rookies turn in seasons of the calibre that Simmons, Mitchell and Tatum did this year. All three are probably better than the 2017 ROY (Brogdon), Wiggins in 2015, Carter-Williams in 2014. Probably not since Griffin have we seen a rookie who would 100% win the award over any of these guys - the performances from Towns, Lillard and Irving would be diminished in the context of the three 2018 candidates because they were on lottery teams.
