Adams v Baynes - who's better?

Baynes is having a good year, and seems to be the hardest guy to score against in the NBA. He seems to be turning into another Bogut as elite rim-protector.

Adams is also having a good year, and keeps getting better year after year.

However, I still see Adams as more of an offensive threat.

If you could choose who you'd rather have on your team, who would you choose?

No Anon. I think you are kidding yourself!

Baynes has the number 1 Defensive Rating in the NBA and Adams is well down the list.

Adams may be the better player overall but the stats say different to the claim you have dismissed out of hand!

Well, let's wait and see if he makes any difference in the finals.
He has improved but stats are very deceiving..
Serviceable year but 95% of the league ain’t thinking twice about attacking the hoop when he is playing...
Gobert,Davis,Jordan,Whiteside,Drummond,Lopez,,Embiid,CAT,Morris brothers,green,KD,Boogie,LA , Gasol,Adams, Gortat,Vucevic,Valanciunas,Nance jnr,Howard,Turner,Capela, they protect and make defensive plays...
He had a good offensive game against Brooklyn (28-54) against Nets WOW!!!!
Time will telll.....aussiepride

The Anon above listing all the names who defend better than Baynes you actually have no idea! You even included Lopez and Towns in your list! Thats funny... Your depth of NBA knowledge must only be the highlights you see on Sportscenter.

Defense isn't just who blocks shots or gets steals, Baynes opponent fg % when it comes to rim protection is elite, and his defensive ratings on every measurable stat is above all on your list except Gobert, Embiid, and maybe Nurcic.

I get it stats but look at Westbrook triple dub season and not even in mvp conversation...just saying no player is intimidated by him or his opponent defensive %.
I bet it goes down considerably when playing those guys..
Cause he aussie and in nba we pump him up ( he's good average player)

Triple doubles are based on raw stats which are misleading, old school. The advanced analytics don't lie, and yes Baynes is a good average player, but like most NBA role players he is elite at one thing, interior defense.

If a regular local player squared up 1 on 1 against Andre Drummond or Aron Baynes, you'd probably think you'd have a better chance of scoring on Baynes due to Drummonds crazy athletisism, and that may be true, but on an NBA floor in 5 on 5 with knowledge of defensive schemes and reads involved, when Baynes was on court with the Pistons they were nearly 10 points per 100 possessions better defensively than with Drummond on court, and opposition players shot nearly 10% worse at the rim with Baynes on as well. So who is the better defender? We're talking NBA not a pickup game.

Baynes had 25 points & 14 boards in 20 minutes in the Celts last game. Fist time in 50 years anyone in the NBA has done that in 20 minutes or less. He can play a little bit I guess
