Darius Bazley skips college to join G-League

_____________

Bazley, a 6-foot-8 forward from Ohio, is ranked No. 9 in the ESPN 100 for the 2018 class.

"The G League will have the most to offer, considering that is the development league for the NBA. I will get more out of that than going overseas. The G League is the closest thing to the NBA."

Bazley is the first five-star prospect to skip college for the G League, after several players have gone the overseas route. Like most high school players, Bazley is ineligible for the 2018 NBA draft because he's not one year removed from his graduating class. In the past, if a player was ruled ineligible for college or wanted to skip college, he generally went overseas -- like Brandon Jennings, Emmanuel Mudiay and Terrance Ferguson.

Interesting - the NBL would have liked to have landed a guy like this with their new program.

Closest thing to the NBA? Shows he's a little uneducated on basketball outside of his little bubble

Wonder how much he will be getting paid though as the first to do this

They get peanuts unless they get a two way contract.

$26k USD is the G-league base, 2 way guys get more, however Bazley would also now be able to earn additional money from endorsements

He'll get noticed by NBA scouts - I think that's all he cares about.

His salary wont be the big deal

He will get more from endorsements, shoe deals, than anything else the next season

A bit like Ferguson, was paid like $80k by the sixers, $500k in endorsements

So if this kid gets $500k or more i endrosements, then he isnt going to worry about $30k in d-league v $80k in NBL

Also nothing stopping G League to from changing their rules to pay these top prospects more if they want too

College you make millions for the college, you study and poor.

Better to play for little money and focus on your game instead of useless studies.
