Arent the best refs supposed to be in the finals. How can none of them see the goal tending that should have been called

Loe and Pledger not hitting set shots today. Their stretch offence has been very handy for making the most of mismatches and spacing.

Loe usually knocks those threes down at a decent clip. Open looks he needs to keep taking.

Thought I saw 3 possible minor fouls on the play.

Maybe 3 soft fouls = 1 significant foul

Sosa on Ware - before the shot? What is the rule now? Is it just that you have to have picked up the ball?

Both teams seem a bit flat in the last few minutes.

So Breakers don't want to stop the ball on the break? They have to do better on defence.

That isn't continuation this season.

Just get Casper's calf on ice. What Russell called a smile was I think a grimace

Just back home teams in the semis...
The referees in this league are nothing more than home town cheer leaders who cannot handle crowd pressure.

That is the difference between a professional league and a bush league like the NBL

They seemed to have lost confidence in their offence. They were close with minutes, and just looked desperate.

Melbourne defended very well, they are long and cram the paint. Goulding will need to lift though.

Good win, now finish the job in NZ!

Good to see Carrick sticking around with the team during playoffs.
Barring an NBA call up, I think he'll be there next season.

Quality win

Casper exposed NZ big guys lack of speed on switches and pick and rolls

Sosa needs to do better for NZ.

I'm realistic enough to think Loe is unlikely to brick all those open threes again though.

United is officially a ball club now- first playoff win.

Casper too much for us. He is physically so tough and penetrates without fear.
Sosa too erratic esp his default J with 24 running down.
Pledge and Loe don't seem regular options in our offence or can't get it done. Got to take it at Boone.
Abercrombie's lack of offence (shots and confidence) puts too much pressure on Sosa and Newbill.
Penney has to play and shoot more for us to have any chance.
Melbourne look like they have too many options against us.
Their defence has got our number when game is on the line.

Hisense has a capacity around 10,500 and The Age reported nearly 7,000 to the game. Say it was exactly 7,000, did they jack the ticket prices up another 50 per cent to offset what probably would have been a sell-out had ticket prices remained normal?

Prices were jacked up- something like 30-40% above reg season

Top sections baseline were curtained off. I'm not sure what capacity is for remainder of stadium but the rest was essentially full

They've got to make the product prestigious and create more value by jacking up the prices, but probably would've made more money on that particular game with regular pricing.

Not too far down the track they'll fill it out at the jacked up prices.

The NBL just has to continue to work on making playoffs themselves more prestigious

It is going to be worse for the Grand Final, if Melbourne get through, considering games 1 and 3 are on Friday nights and that is when all VJBL games are being played. We have gone to every game all season, except two, both Friday nights. Shattered. Disappointed. Angry. All descriptive words that I should not be feeling right now.

I am in Melbourne on holiday and wanted to buy a ticket to the game, but didn't due to the cost. Now I read it wasn't even close to a sellout. I feel offended. What mismanagement.

Melbourne go straight through to the 2018 NBL Grand Final Series! Games 1 and 3 will both be played in Melbourne, and go on sale together, with a further discount available for purchasing both games as a package.

Yes Ware is a great shooter and penetrator but he is also a great faker and flopper and seems protected from push off fouls and travels.

Nowhere near a sellout (75% lol wow) means they failed at setting the pricing (not costing, wrong term). Fail.
