Not even streamed on NBL TV either I don't think.

Pretty sure Boomers games was a separate TV deal with Fox and nothing to do with the NBL deal.

In Melbourne, with Goulding out no Melbourne players, could be very poor crowd.

Are you serious? The Filippinos and Filippinas will be out in force.

The game after that sure but not this one.

What happened to basketball being excluded from the anti syphoning laws. Netball gets in but not basketball.

If it's not on free to air it doesn't really happen for the vast majority of Australians!!

Whoever is responsible for selling out to Foxtel. A low act and f**! you. Disgraceful!

Netball is but not basketball? Wow, that is unbelievable. I hate corrupt officials and how they do everything to try to preserve their quaint little non-global sports in the spotlight. Disgusting.

They are missing 2 key guards. Easy win for us. :)

Game is at Margaret Court Arena and by all reports is sold out. I think there is some concern for the crowd numbers for Sunday's game though.

How come Andray Blatche qualifies for the Philippines?

Good question re: Blatche. I wonder if he could've found the Philippines on a map before 2014.

Boomers are absolutely stone cold at the moment. Can't hit the side of a barn in Q2

Crowd and refs you'd think this was in the Philippines

Same way as Lisch does for us. Played long enough in the country to be "naturalised"

Boomers playing like they're on holidays in Boracay. Missing sitters, kicking it out behind the arc on penetration... just ugly.

Blatche has never played or lived in the Philippines (outside of national team duties).

Is Sobey hurt? His game would suit playing against the Philippines team with his speed! He persists with Cadee

Interesting how the Aussie's react to shit calls when playing in the FIBA format compared to playing in the NBL. Food for thought.

I don't know what's worse, the illegal screen call on Brandt, or Boomers' inability to finish from inside the paint.

Definitely the latter since Brandt was moving

It's a shame DJ can't beat out the guy that backs him up in Adelaide for a spot in this squad, because he'd eat this level of competition alive IMO and give us a much more balanced scoring attack.

With Finals on, why take Sobey away from the 36ers if you're not going to use him!?

AngusH

Norton is still young I guess, but I agree. Right now I'd rate him as a steady backup PG in the NBL, but probably not a national team player until he can at least knock down the 3 reliably.

Ira Brown has been playing in Japan for years as well, at least. Blatche on the other hand probably thinks Manila is an ice cream flavour.

Not the Manila/vanilla part, but its a common joke when someone that has barely set foot in a country suddenly claims he is a citizen when it suits. Pretty sure earnest Ross had the same things said about it. Its got nothing to do with his perceived intelligence.

Underwhelming and uninspired game all round tonight. I never expected them to be a well oiled machine after having such a long time off but it just seemed to me that everyone was too scared to shoot and too unsure of their rotations to score or defend properly. Having said that, Philippines got lucky to lose to Australia by less than 20. If our guys had more than a few days together and could train against more than just themselves I think this could have been a 40-60 point blow out. They were never going to have the talent to stick with Australia but we did leave the door wide open to them way longer than should be acceptable.

DJ scores at will in the NBL and can't make the team. Scoring is not appreciated by the coach. Hence why Brisbane came bottom
