Walker: 22.6/3.4/5.8.
Simmons: 16.6/7.8/7.2
Simmons is a rookie and will have many opportunities ahead of him.

Isaac,
Have to agree - many more opportunities, Too many people are being precious believing that Ben must be in the game no matter what.

Not a snub IMO.
Will play in many all star games could even be a starter next year
Top 5 assists in the league, top 10 steals. 3rd in the league in triple doubles.
Second highest of guards in blocks and rebounds in the league.
Leads all rookies in every stat category except scoring.
Kemba just shoots more.

I've said it before, the basketball gods are just gunna keep taking players out until Simmons gets a spot. Divine intervention.

Agreed... For every number to justify Walker, there's probably 3 or 4 to justify Ben being selected...

Can we all agree its part of the rookie/sophomore World v USA game getting more traction and not due to his stats.
There's clearly not much more he could do, thats indicated by The Process getting a game when he's not played as much and is on the same team w the same record.

It's based on the coach votes. Historically, coaches don't vote for rookies.

What does Simmons' "many more opportunities" have to do with how deserving he is this season?
Walker or Simmons should have been picked over Dragic in the first place.

Dave, I'm pretty sure that the commissioner picks the injury replacements. Only the initial reserves are selected by a vote from coaches.

The commissioner has been naming replacements based on the coaches votes.

I don't subscribe to the "will have opportunities" line. No one can see into the future - if he's deserving this year he should be there, and he's deserving of it this year.
The "he has to earn it" line is just as flimsy.
I'm not buying the coaches influence either. The selection process is:
50% fan vote
25% coach vote
25% media vote
Simmons had a huge fan vote. Third in the east front court and way ahead of some of the starters let alone Walker and dragic who weren’t even on the top ranking ladder.
With such a huge fan vote the coaches and media would have had to be a huge swing the other way.
This is a flat out SNUB!!!

Its been pretty public that Silver is picking the replacement based on coaches picks. And its pretty publicly known that coaches dont often pick rookies. They look at playrrs for their resume, so to speak. Not saying he isnt deserving of being named an all star. But it is why he isn't

Playing devil's advocate then, if that truly IS the case, then don't the "SNUBBB!!111!!!" fans have a point? Surely he should be picked on entertainment value alone? Imagine him working with all those other all-stars? Jeez...

Oh, no doubt. I think based on this season he should be there for sure. Definitely wasnt trying to say it was right. Just that thats why he isnt there
