Silly Season

What is the general perception (from coaches and players) of the silly season? Are the "elite players" expected to play the silly season?

Silly season is a chance to give experience to younger players and for coaches to have a look at players, try new stuff etc.
It doesnt give a real reflection of whats going on, or how the next season will be. Just a chance for players to keep some touch for the off season, or have a break and get over any niggling injuries / rejuvenate for the next season.

It is not always treated as a silly season in junior ranks. I have seen some coaches play their best team without any experimentation or trying out new players, especially from the lower age bracket.

As a player... i dont treat any season as silly.

No matter what team is put out there... everyone wants to win.

Silly as in how Norwood won it last year and then they finished bottom in the real season!
