Hard to go for the 3 peat, I personally still don't think they put the best team together to try. Every other team's upgraded.
Agreed.
I think some of their decisions were a bit misguided this season. Last season I thought they should have been recruiting to replace Knight. I didn't believe he could play out the season.
Dex and Clint are so similar, I don't see the point in having both, and there is no opportunity for either of them to get involved.
Kenny seems to have suitable skills, but trigger shy. Also doesn't seem to back himself to put the ball on the floor. At times his presence just puts more pressure on others to produce.
If Walker and Tokoto are not hitting from range, and Martin doesn't want to shoot, then it makes things awkward for Cotton to score from the perimeter, and creates issues for spacing in the paint for others. Poorly reffed illegal defense also causes timing issues reaching openings or cutting off ball.
Brandt has plenty to like, but IMO, lacks versatility in post moves, and insufficient range. He seems to not handle even single coverage from the really strong defenders. I think recently he has been caught out with some cheap off ball fouls. IMO, these are some of the problem areas for NBL refs, but I think he would benefit from learning how to manage entanglement around the rim a bit better.
Cotton seems to be the only player to provide reliable dribble penetration, but IMO lacks the physique to consistently finish in traffic, particularly if other players can't space the defenders.
Anyway, it has been nice watching Adelaide and Melbourne. Unfortunately the Breakers have slipped in form a little.
