Clint steindl, oh boy, a few to many old guys Anderson, Newley, and a couple been out injured a fair bit as well. No imagination in this squad for the future. Luckily Brandt, Hodgson and Humphries been on fire to make the squad, lol.

Why don't we just name all the current Australian NBL players. With a squad of 24 players it's not far off.

Excluding AJ Ogilvy of course.

Lemanis really doesn't like Ogilvy hey

Good to see DJ finally got an inclusion though. Watch Humphries, Brandt and/or kay get spots before him though

This window comes right at the end of the NBL season. Will there be a break between seasons end and the start of the playoffs? There are 12 NBL players on the list likely to be playing finals, plus the Tall Blacks will likely have a few Breakers.

Wildcats playing badly now so that their players don't get selected/play much for Boomers for the next window eight before playoffs. Next level thinking.

Blanchfield, Norton, Steindl, Wagstaff. Is it "everybody wins a prize" or something?

quote from NBL press release (August 22 2017) about the 2017/18 NBL schedule:

"There will not be any games held on the weekends of November 25-26 and February 24-25 so that players will be available for FIBA World Cup qualifying matches during these windows."

Boomers have games on 22 and 25 February so it seems safe to conclude there'll be a break between end of NBL regular season and start of NBL finals.

Thanks PJ. I guess thats unfortunate timing momentum-wise but better than starting the finals without key players.

This seriously waters down the honour of making the Boomers squad. It does seem to be an "everyone gets a prize" approach.

You add Anderson, still injured at Melbourne and got less and less minutes,Newley, was a great player but been poor this season. It's a wonder Barlow never got a Guernsey.

Adam Thoseby
Adam Doyle
Kuany Kuany
Chris Patton
Brendan Teys
Shaun Bruce
Mason Bragg
Peter Hooley
Nelson Larkins
Kevin White
Dexter Kernich-Drew
Damon Heuir
Kyle Adnam
Greg Hire
Craig Moller

A little stiff to miss out. It would be handy to play 5 on 5 with each of the 7 Australian teams (minus imports) during the camp.

Wait until all the playoff team's players are all of a sudden injured before the camp.

If I was picking a team and had a choice between Deng and Drimic my choice would be Deng.

Its actually inconceivable that Ogilvy hasn't even made the squad considering none of those big men are better than him

WTF, why on gods earth is Steindl picked, he barely gets court time for the Wildcats. Did they just throw 24 darts at a dart board with every NBL player on it, and said there is our squad.

There's only about 50 odd Aussies in the whole league so about half of them made the Boomers squad.

"This seriously waters down the honour of making the Boomers squad. It does seem to be an "everyone gets a prize" approach. "

I think the idea is to establish a depth chart and style of play that extends beyond the 12 that actually compete in the next FIBA window, which makes sense given the possibility for injury/unavailability.

Wang Whipper deserves the little ball.

Majok Deng and Craig Moller are more deserving than Steindl.

They should be establishing a style that can win on the world stage, length, speed, can play inside and out plus defend and not picking has beens even if they were great some time back.

Hogwash is right Deng and Moller certainly would've been better options than who they've selected even if the did not make the final cut.

I was right the first time forgot to put Cameron Gliddon in the OP.
That just means 24 out of 50+ eligible NBL players making the squad.
Wonder if they would use same squad for Commonwealth games.

435, so the style of play that won the Asia Cup and placed 4th at the Olympics is a write-off?

Won an Asian championship, NZ took there second side, have you forgotten how Serbia took us apart in the semi. We have players now of length, speed and skill we should be using them. Hodgson can hardly catch the ball and up till now played in front of DJ, will be interesting to see if that happens in the final 12 picked.

Nope haven't forgotten 459: the Boomers played terribly, and Serbia very well. Still finished 4th and within a basket of an olympic medal.

NZ took their second side, that's correct. Not sure what relevance that has when we didn't play NZ, but nonetheless would have likely beaten them.

Hodgson can hardly catch the ball, yet was a servicable option for the Boomers. Gee wiz, Lemanis is good!

Playmaker, you're missing my point! Making the Boomers squad used to be an achievement, now with guys like Drmic and Stiendl making it, it seems like a farce. It’s ok to have a squad, but the current 24 named is the worst ever named in the history of Australian Basketball.
