There's some real interesting stats there. The big three at NY, Allan Houston, Anfernee Hardaway and Tim Thomas would have to be close to the biggest waste of $49 million dollars if i've ever seen it!
And look at players like Brian Grant-$16mil, Van Horn-$15mil, Eddie Jones $14.5mil and even old man Antonio Davis is still bringing in $13.9mil per year.
I still can't believe New York didn't waive Houston's contract under the new amnesty clause, that's simply ridiculous.

Half a million in US dollars. We are in the wrong job! Good luck to Luke get it while you can.

If Houston's knees are as dodgy as people are saying there is every chance he will retire (Houston was quoted a while ago that if he can't get through training camp he would retire) before then season starts. If he retires then insurance pays out 80% of his contract. Sort of like what happened with Luc and the Knicks.

If he got waived then the Knicks would be forced to pay him the coin anyway regardless. At least if he plays he'll be playing for $$$. Shandon Anderson left the team at the beginning of last season and he would be still costing the Knicks coin if he wasn't waived.

Bit hard for Stoudamire to negotiate his own contract when the NBA brackets how much you are paid plus or minus 10%.

He's still on a rookie contract, but expect to him sign an extension for the max next summer. Part of the reason why the Suns moved Joe Johnson. Marion is due next summer as well, and if they didn't pay Johnson this summer he would of been an unrestricted free agent next year, so the Suns could of lost him for zilch. At least they loaded up on some decent draft picks and got more defence in Diaw.
