Hawks vs Bullets, Dec 31

Will the Hawks back up their performance from the Cairns game? They haven't really been able to string a few good games together yet this season and the Bullets coming off of the tough Boxing Day loss to Melbourne might get the upset today.

Yes the Hawks have at last got their mojo and the Illawarra is excited at the prospect of another tilt at the final.
Yes we are all in awe of Conger & Clarke but the whole gang is contributing in their own way. The win over Perth will always be special but the battle of the smart, technical coaches with first Ferne and the Lemanis showed Bevo's enormous value and ability.
We get excited about the current group of imported guards but seldom mention the back court generals especial the old guards. Perth were no where without their D Martin and let’s celbrate the seldom mentioned game winner Illawarra’s R Martin whose smart play and team organisation iis more than Special.
The best year ever for the NBL? I really think so

R Martin lost Illawarra the game the previous time they played Perth.

Rhys was terrible early this season and I think that had a huge impact on the team. A couple of losses had a bit to do with his poor decision making, which is very uncharacteristic for him.

But he's definitely found his groove over the past month and just in time with Mitch Norton going down.

Loving the work of Nick Kay and Cody Ellis at the moment, must remind Beveridge of Knight and Wagstaff in his Perth days. Those types of bigs are so important to bevy ball.

Why has Ellis been allowed to get on the court again over the last month or so after all those DNP's? He is playing very well, should have always been part of the rotation

Maybe having players out injured forced their hand and then it's been hard to deny his contribution since?

Even if there was no plan to keep him in Wollongong, I don't see why you don't play him anyway if he helps you out, and if you don't want to deter future free agents.

The situation with Ellis and Garlepp is just a good reminder why front office should never have any input on what's happening on the court. That's the coach's job, if he's not doing it well enough sack him and get in someone who fits your brief better, but don't interfere.
