Great thinking by the NBL and Melbourne. LK isn't going to die wondering during this era.

As someone that doesn't live in Melbourne, why is this a big deal?

I get that all the sports venues are in the same area.

But what's special about having a game scheduled during Tennis season?

The whole precinct is in Australian Open shutdown
Rod Laver, Hisense & Margaret Court Arena being the 3 premium courts and all outdoor courts being utilised.

Tennis ticket gives you access to a basketball game within the precinct that night.

Normaly Tigers/Titans/Dragons/United would be on the road for the whole month of January or play 1-2 games at the much smaller State Netball and Hockey Centre (3,500 capacity). Obviously with the crowds and exposure United have been getting 3,500 is not an option.

Great idea, should get good publicity.

Great work by LK in organising this.

On the general topic of United, it's great to see the crowds this season. Not sure exact number but it looked around 6,000 on Monday. After 6,500 odd on Thursday a few weeks ago. Great numbers for weeknights.

Even the AFL dropped the Monday night games after the last St Kilda Carlton one only drew mid 20,000's (which is believe it or not, a terrible crowd for any two Melbourne based AFL sides).

Kyrgios has always said Hisense is his favorite court. Maybe United can give him a chance to warm up with the team

How many season ticket holders do United currently have?

Interesting, so Melbourne will play a home game on 24 January and then travel to New Zealand the next day to play the Breakers. That is a tough schedule!

They went to the USA and played when they got back, this is a breeze.

Thanks Koberulz, I missed that in the story, it's actually moved to the 18th.

No idea why I had the 15th in my head, then. Important point is it's been moved, though.

Chris Goulding looks a pretty good tennis player ...
..and Kyrgios's apparent bonhomie being able to go to this game...pretty good to see on tvnews... while Serena will be there , also ...
