Jeremy Tyler - Did JVG do any research??

After last night's game it doesn't look like this guy has changed one bit. Did jvg actually do any background on this guy?

I'm not going to judge him entirely on that one game. Like any new mid-season import big he's going to get hosted by the refs.
I'm more concerned that Gaze, Van Wrongagain and Copeland have the ability to guide him (they don't).
He obviously learned nothing overseas and he's bounced from team to team. Another Acie Earl, happy to cash a cheque and leverage the fact "he played a little NBA" until he fades to obscurity.

(I think I did just judge him entirely on that one performance).

It wasn't even the on-court work (which was poor: 0/4 FT, 4 turnovers, seemingly fumbled everything) but off-court where his body language was terrible. That's something a player is in complete control of. The commentators made a few references to how a coach probably wouldn't defer to a player who looked so disinterested.

That report of another overseas stint is full of issues entirely within a player's control. You might be below the standard or struggle away from the comforts of home, but things like punctuality and effort are all on you.

It's a shame about his mental issues because physically he is well equipped to play at the NBL level and dominate.

Based on the off the court issues Whittington and Powell caused last year which was pushed under the cover by management and.. causes internal disruptions within the team, neither Gaze, Copeland or JVG has the ability to deal with issues that might occur with Tyler!!

The team is heading down the path again of being the basket case of the nbl and the 3 Stooges(gaze/copeland/jvg) from Melbourne should be the first to go!

JvG research = get list of import players, filter by position, sort by number of NBA games played.

Take the best player of any team and they would struggle, Lisch being out has been huge, his skill set and his leadership would cover some coaching deficiencies.

Back half of the season with the Tyler/Humphries/Singh playing centre, Ellis/Newley/Blanch splitting minutes at the forwards, and Lisch/Randle/Cadee splitting minutes at the guards, playoffs may be out of reach but they'll win more than they loose.

Last night was a red flag on his behaviour. I would have agreed with the doomsday call on Powell 2.0 but seeing Randle chewed him out at the FT line, that may be the difference. He calmed down real quick after that.

The Kings certainly getting their money's worth in Randle.

His rep in China was poor and all but JVG didn't know that.

Out of interest, why isn't Whittington still in the league this year? He seemed a pretty decent fit last season

BS, If I just as a basketball fan knew all about Tyler's poor attitude you can be sure JVG did too. It's followed Tyler his whole career. JVG just took a gamble.

Why does JVG speak with an American accent? Isn't he from Ballarat?

The video of Tyler calling his coach a "pussy" in China is pretty funny.
I wonder what he has lined up for Gaze next time he yanks him.

Tyler: "You're a pussy!"
Gaze: "Wrong animal!"
Tyler: "Huh?"
Gaze: "Maaaa! Maaa!"
Tyler: "Guys, WTF?"
Gaze: "Maaaaaaaa! Maaaaaaaa!"
Teammate: "He's the GOAT. He's making goat noises."
Tyler: *retires from basketball*

Another reason why JVG needs to go. Incompetence at it's best if true Zodiac.
It was posted on FB immediately after he was signed.

To be fair to Tyler that article was from a long time ago when he didn't have any professional experience.

Be fair all you want but in China his name is mud. How JVG cam up with that is a total mystery. There are enough aussies over there to help with scouting. FAIL. JVG.

The problem with attitude in China is that imports fighting with coaches are prevalent there as they are often blamed for the team's poor performances. The language barrier is also prone to a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding.

Even scouts there would have issues trying to ascertain if the American indeed has attitude problems. Of more concern should be his lack of experience in international leagues in Europe during CBA off-season. His body type is usually in high demand in top tier leagues there.

The money in China is very good. There's no need to play in the off-season too if you don't want to.

He also played in Europe in Israel and had the same attitude problem.

That Israel stint shouldn't count. Lasted 10 games as an 18yr old where the whole team purposefully shut him out of their plays. More to protest Haifa's owner using up a valuable import spot to pander to the NBA.

Was a slight improvement on attitude in his second game... At least he wasn't stuck sooking down one end most of the game... A couple of soft fouls again hurt him and Gaze & Co REALLY need to work him hard in training over this break and get him accustomed to what he can and can't do... Just have him and Isaac working against each other and whistle him every single time it's even close to being a foul... Frustrate him so much that he just does it... Let him lose his cool, chuck a tantrum, whatever he needs to do to get his muscle memory set and attitude in check...

Gaze saying in the presser after last game "I don't know what to tell him!" and blaming the refs (understandable most of the time, granted) is just not good enough...

His attitude seemed fine to me outside of being frustrated by the calls. He had 1 stupid foul (the elbow/spin move), 1 legit foul, and was "unlucky" on the other 3 with the usual NBL BS calls inside the paint... the charge in particular was textbook NBL stuff, where 40kg Deng is bowled over and so it must be a charge.

I sit baseline and the charge versus Majok was legit. For some bizarre reason Tyler decided to fully extend his off arm to bowl over Majok. Couldn't be more obvious to the baseline ref and stupid decision when already in foul trouble. Presume the tv cameras didn't have the correct angle.
