Brisbane v Cairns, Nov 12

with Randle now at the Kings, will Brisbane now be hots of favourite for the wooden spoon?

Cairns are a team who slip under the radar and should get this game by about 20.

Cairns signing Patton is a gift to every other team in the NBL. What a boob.

This commentary team of Matt Russell, Trigger and Steve Harvey is really enjoyable to listen to, great chemistry between the 3

What's the record for lowest combined halftime total in the 40 minute era? 57 points can't be far off it

Trigger called a steal a 'chicken strip' ... HA HA HA get it?!

Seriously, it would be good if he just called the game and stopped trying to be funny with the lame quips.

Trigger doesn't seem like a bad guy but his front bar quips every second time down the court get old pretty quickly.

Unfortunately it seems like that is the way the commentators have been instructed to call the games now shoehorn as much personality into the broadcast as possible, it's the only justification for Homicide's continued existence.

Their identity is to choke leads in the second half. Has been since they returned.

That blue Taipans singlet with the big CNS on the front would probably be the ugliest singlet I've ever seen in the NBL.

A ripsnorting 49-49 at 3QT.

Why did he sub Truce off with 23 seconds left?

Absolute disgraceful that the NBL allowed these uniforms for this game, pathetic, makes clubs, league look amateurish. You think they would have learnt from the debacle of uniform clashes in the Grand Final last season. If I'm the causal sports fan that turns on the TV to this, I'm thinking, what the hell am I watching! Beyond stupidity!

Offence/defence.

I don't believe in that when a guy is rolling.

You're likely to give more on D if you're confident.

Podge, I know you're there champ. I'd like to hear your excuse for hooking Scoochie for Weeks with a bit over a minute left.

Fearne's sub patterns are always questionable

I didn't realise Trice was supposed to be a defensive liability....

Kind of glad Bris won cos I didn't want to see them fall an extra game behind the pack

Trice no liability, Lemanjs just has an unjustified belief that Te Rangi is a defensive stopper, despite reality being contradictory.

ManuF, what's with this Fearne thing!?!
When do you think he had the time to coach Scoo to play lazy?
My word on the ground is training sessions early in the week put team/peer pressure on Smith to WORK. Had the effect on Thursday night.
Come Sunday he’s missing again, and only Patton can make him look 'ok".

What has happened to "scoochie"? He does not seem required to close out close games? There is something going on there????

That may be so, but where's the harm in going with the lineup that is working, let alone working in the final couple minutes of the game.

i didn't have a problem with it, Scoochie was playing tired - I wouldn't say lazy - and Weeks had played really well all game.
Trice hit some big ball shots and we couldn't make a layup in the last 90 seconds.

I agree with ManuF's comment above. I also think Scooch is better at the death then Weeks. Weeks had played well but had run his race in my opinion. Scooch would have been very handy in those last 90 seconds.

maybe, but Scoochie was shooting at 37%, Weeks was at 60% - we needed scoring.

Maybe Scoochie makes 2 defensive stops on Trice and drops 2 3's for us, low probability but anything is possible.

If we're going to go down the hypothetical rabbit hole:

He was on 1 foul, maybe the plan in the last 90 seconds was to foul to get Brisbane to the limit. Weeks comes on to cover the timeout play and there's no stoppage in the game until 23 second time out. By then Weeks stays in because he's a better 3 point shooter?

For as long as I've watched Fearne coach the Taipans, I've seen momentum-killing substitutions. It's his shtick.
