All Australian Camp 2006

Next Wednesday the public announcement will be made of the Australian Junior Camp squads, and advising that the U18 is the National Squads.

The U16 athletes attending the camp are being advised that they are in the age group for the 2009 Worlds, however it is not the National Squad (14 would be too small a squad 4 years out

Has there been a team list produced on the basketball australia website or anything?

It seems strange that the BA website has yet to publish the list but the ACT b/ball website already has an article on its players selected to the camp.

ACT are just extremely excited about their players.
As this only affects the individual junior why is it essential that you are informed. Is it so you can nit pick the selection.

"As this only affects the individual junior why is it essential that you are informed. Is it so you can nit pick the selection."

Who said anything about my right to be informed, you flickwit? I merely wondered why BA hadn't released a full list while a 'state' had preceded that announcement with a piece on their players.

Yes I am curious, but so what?

i thought that the australian camp was selected from performances at nationals? if so, why have girls such as bishop and manou been selected if they weren't there?

What a load of bullocks. Those girls deserve to be in the camp even if they weren't at nationals. they were representing their country for God's sakes. Also, all Australian is not only picked on nationals.

Did I notice a couple of names missing from the list? Maybe from SA Metro and Vic Metro? What's going on there?

Are they picking the best possible players or is there some GRAND CONSPIRACY?

Hang your head in shame.

All Australian camp for U/18's now encompasses the development of Natioanl Junior Squads as the teams are now selected every 2 years rather than the previous 4.

Those players selected are done so not just on their performancess at Nationals but also on their potential to play in Junior World Championship Teams. As well as future ability to play in National Senior teams.

Players who show a lack of what selectors deem to be proper requirements will not be selected. Hence the 23 names are those players earmarked for the next Junior Worlds groups.

If players have done the wrong thing and not endeered themselves due to their own actions then they have only themselves to blame.

Congratulation to those players who have been selected. Hopefully those who have not will use it as fuel to better their own performance to prove the selectors wrong.

So annonymous, are you suggesting that the SA girl that missed out has only herself to blame due to her own actions? And if you answer yes to that question....what exactly are those things that she has done because I would love to know.

tdawg - i wasnt suggesting that these girls didnt deserve to be in the squad, they are both very talented players who have earned their spots through other performance throughout the year, i was just querying if girls were only selected for the camp based on their performances at nationals.

So does anybody have any reason for why a clear stand out player at the U18 nationals by the name of leah did not get into the all austrlian squad whats going on there....and why is Hayley Munro and Kate Malpass missing also????

Have the selectors lost there mind?

Don't abuse people in your Grand Final and you may be picked. Leah's career at a National level is finished.

Reply #49498 | Report this post

for any of you who actually know leah, u would know that she is one of the greatest girls in the competition at the moment - both on and off the court. Although im sure she is disappointed, she would be very happy for her team mates/friends because she IS a team player. And for those of you that are bagging her, most of you wouldn't even compare to her as a person or player and shame on you for kicking someone when they're down.

Come on #49498 back up your statement. What do you mean by that - who did she abuse? Have you got a video or something? anything?
Tell us what you know, or what you heard, so maybe someone else can refute your story or stick up for the kid. Put up or shut up - you know the deal - don't say things you aren't prepared to support and then hide behind anonymity - you hero.

after Leah's year at the 'Tute she may have decided she doesn't want to pursure her basketball at a national level. It wouldn't be the first time basketball has lost a promising junior women player to that distraction called "life".

After Leah's year at the 'Tute...bla..bla...bla...maybe this, maybe that, bla...bla...bla....
She was one of the best at the last nationals - that's a fact and not a maybe. (Check the stats and write ups)
She did leave the 'Tute - for reasons only she fully knows. Maybe one day she'll have an opportunity or a desire to share those reasons with the rest of us.
She still loves her game - that's pretty obvious to anyone who gets to see her play.
And if her career at a national level is finished (& how stupid and baseless a statement is that - by the way?) then it would be a real pity for every other player at that level, every other player aspiring to reach that level, and every spectator watching the game at that level to have missed out on her presence in the game. Because like her or hate her, u can't deny that the girl has presence.
Good luck to everyone who made the selector's lists. :) And hopefully the rest of us haven't seen the last of the other kids who didn't make it this time.
