"Suitable replacement for Walker...."
No. Short term maybe but I'll take an import thanks.

Save the import spot for the inevitable Knight or Martin injury

Having won the last 3 championships with Small Forwards Ennis, Prather and Prather, its going to be a hard sell to fans that a three peat aspirant has Client Steindl and Greg Hire at SF.
"I'll take an import thanks"
Didn't realise ethnicity matters? Got any comments on their game?? lol
"Didn't realise ethnicity matters? Got any comments on their game?? lol"
Are you for real?
Steindl is not knocking on the door of the NBA. The imports that Perth chases are. Was that clear enough for you?
I see no problem with Steindl ticks the boxes for me especially his 3 point shooting.
#073 makes most sense keep import spot available for Knight/Martin injury.
If D Walkeris is available by game 22 that's great if not can always bring him in next year
Perth already have an import knocking on door of the NBA. Cotton.
Steindl would come cheaper too.
Michael Bryson and Devin Williams were both knocking on the NBA door, look how they turned out in the NBL. You have absolutely no concept of players' ability to translate their game. How many Australian players aren't given summer league opportunities but star in his league!
"You have absolutely no concept of players' ability to translate their game."
Ennis>Prather>Daylight>>>>>>Steindl.
I'll take the risk of the concept of a players' ability to translate their game.
Oh and the new uniform sucks. Just a change to yet another shitty font. I don't get it, each year it gets worse and worse.
Could be because his fiance Kayla Standish is playing for the Perth Lynx in the WNBL

A fracture normally takes 6 weeks to heal. The first game of the season is just shy of 6 weeks away. Steindl will probably fill in for Walker for pre-season games and the first couple of games of the season. If rehab goes well Walker should only miss a few games.

6 weeks to heal, then how many weeks rehab?
Press release said "a large portion of the season".
Which I interpret as 2/3s of the season.

The Wildcats website said he'd miss "most" of the season.
Lachy Reid just confirmed he's just training with the cats while he is here with his Girlfriend. So training, and maybe a couple of pre season games. But you gotta think if he's playing pre season games they must have some interest.

He can shoot threes.
Wildcats struggled with three point shooting last season (at least until Cotton came).
Why wouldn't you take a free look at him?

KBrulz "Most" and "large portion" are the same thing. 2/3s of the season is "most of the season.
Anything over half the season is "most of the season".

They haven't released what sort of foot fracture it is. If it is a lisfranc there is no chance of him being back anytime soon
Could be because his fiance Kayla Standish is playing for the Perth Lynx in the WNBL
Says the guy using exclamation marks to ask a question...
So why tf would you keep an injured import around for most of the season? I don't get it. Either he can play or gets sent home on a plane. because Cotton's bestie?
"It's Steindl's misso"
Whoops.. thanks... hahaha
I would take a chance on him.
Still leaves that 3rd import available while Walker is out.
Why wouldn't you keep him around as an insurance policy? Stupid to send him home if he's happy to hang around....

Steindl was a better player than Prather in the Townsville vs wildcats games at Perth arena. Actually played well and got his team the win
Are you a Wildcats supporter ^ anon #123.
Why so salty?
Nobody is saying Steindl is better than Prather overall just saying he will be good for Perth if added to team.
Yes he will be good for Perth, just not at the expense of an import.
United supporter here and i think that Steindl will be good in perth. He won't bring the same qualities as Walker but still a good fit if he's signed. His main strength is obviously the 3 ball and as everyone on this forum continuously says the wildcats can't shoot so he definitely addresses that need.
People need to remember how injury prone Knight and Martin are.
Which is why Steindl would be ideal.

Did anyone watch the Crocs intently in their final year? Steindl was a beast.
If he plays starter minutes at Perth, he should be a 15ppg scorer.

He was penetrating and showed an in-between game as well.

Couldn't agree more Manu. Some people seem to think it is import or fail but he could be a very good floor spacer and more than capable defender

Keep the spot open for a possible injury or mid season upgrade on personnel depending on how the season is going. Be honest, not many if any of us thought knight would play again this season

Steindl scored less than 10 ppg in 24mpg @ 39%.
Can you offer some more clarity on how this is 'beasting'?
Yawn. So much interest, must be a slow news day.

And have you seen his stats in Belgium over the past few years? Yikes.
AngusH

It's only been one year, and his stats in Belgium have basically been a mirror of his last season in the NBL. IMO he's a good starter at a position that is tough to fill outside of imports, and it's a shame he's not in our league.

I stand corrected, they're better than I remember:
http://basketball.eurobasket.com/team/Belgium/Stella_Artois_Leuven_Bears/334?Page=3
12.8 ppg from 27.8 mins p/game. No idea how good the Belgian league is though. The Leuven Bears seem to be the Belgian equivalent of the Crocs, propping up the lower reaches of the league.

Belgium league isn;t great about SEABL standard...couple of the lower teams are a bit better than SEABL level and the bottom end are pretty poor!

I'm ecstatic, I have always been a fan of his, and he actually has more athleticism than he shows on a regular basis, if Trev can instill the confidence in him then I don't think 15ppg is completely out of the question.
I atleast want to see him in a Wildcats jersey so I can buy his jersey and then after that I'll be good... seeing him knock down three pointer after three pointer will be a bonus.
I'd love to see DKD improve this season but if Steindl plays a lot then that won't happen
Fingers crossed though KR.
Would be great fit for Perth
