Lachy Reid tweeted the other day that he was in a moon boot and it could be his ankle, after pulling up sore after training... nothing further from him that I could see...

At least there still plenty of time till the season tips off. Usually if its a serious injury the Cats would of announced it formally.

DEVONDRICK WALKER SUFFERS FOOT INJURY
Perth Wildcats import player Devondrick Walker sustained a foot injury at team training earlier this week.

Scans have since revealed that Walker has suffered a fracture in his left foot.

After receiving advice from multiple specialists, the club and player have, at this stage, opted to take a non-surgical approach to repairing the injury.

The recovery period will see the 25-year-old sidelined for a large portion of the 2017/18 NBL season.

Devondrick Walker joined the organisation from the NBA Development League at the beginning of August.

In his short time as a Wildcat, he has established himself as a key part of the playing group and a terrific clubman.

The Perth Wildcats will offer Devondrick Walker its ongoing support during his recovery period.

Surely the Wildcats will release him and find a replacement asap?

I think of all the Wildcats imports, Devondrick has the most replaceable skillset.

His pre-existing relationship with Cotton might make things a bit awkward if they try to cut ties with him though...

Perfect excuse to upgrade in light of Melb Utd's signings.

Reply #644732 | Report this post

I'm also available to replace him

Surely they cut him if he's an import missing a 'large portion' of the season.

'The Perth Wildcats will offer Devondrick Walker its ongoing support during his recovery period.'

To me this bit makes it sound like they'll cut him, but he'll hang around the club still and be supported by them and the staff with working out, rehab, training, etc. Sort of like Jaron Johnson when he was initially cut.

Waiting for the conspiracy theories to come out that this was faked to get upgrades after Melbourne signed Prather/Ware lol.

This is devastating, was genuinely excited about what he would bring as a legit floor spacer. Sour much for finding and locking away good players early.

Saying he'll miss most of the season makes it sound like they'll bring him back once he's healthy, but that doesn't seem like the wisest of moves to me.

Tokoto would fit this team.

Wildcats also looked at Simmons (d-league player that made headlines when he went to the spurs) before signing deandre and Prather.

There is potenetial out there.

Perfect injury so the Wildcats can use the excuse to scrap this 'mates for mates' import appointment. Time to get a stud import.

Mayo is not really the type of gamble I'd expect the Wildcats to make, especially after all the troubles last year... Mayo has under-performed at every level and, rightly or wrongly, has a reputation to boot.

Doubt it happens, but it might be a slim chance. Doesn't feel like the kind of signing Wildcats would make, but they might want to make a big splash after Melbourne's signings.

tbh I actually think the Wildcats/NBL would be one of the best places for him to prep himself to return to the NBA.

Agreed.

The Wildcats have a zero tolerance stance on substance and it would be a positive step forward for OJ if he were to thrive under the Wildcats and their values for one season.

I haven't seen enough of OJ Mayo to know if he is what the Wildcats need though.

I don't think you can afford Mayo. Unless he wants to come here and don't care about money. Euro or China will pay him at least 1 mil. I'd lmfao if they sign Childress.

Mayo has a bad rep. Hasn't received offers from china or Europe. He'd be expensive, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Quick google... The Twolves don't look interested in signing him. He could be looking for work. Possibly not received a training camp invite. 32 years old. Maybe Perth is his best option.

It would be a quality signing.

No he won't be on the list, if the cats couldn't afford Prather they can't afford hilliard... they looked at Hilliard prior to making the NBA but he would be demanding more than the cats will part with. It will be a solid g league player at best.

The wildcats don't have time to mess around now, they need to get someone good. They could have afforded Prather but didn't want to pay him, maybe his injuries are worse than we know and it is not as if we had a crystal ball to see that Walker was going to get injured.

Prather wasnt going to get close to the money that Cotton is on. Thats why he didnt resign. Felt he deserved the same as Cotton.Initially it was because he thought he may make the NBA. Then it became about money. C.R.E.A.M.

Anonymous that's your opinion but not what actually happened. Casey was happy with what the cats were offering until his agent found out what cotton was on, he's not worth cotton money and the cats weren't going to give in to his tantrum. Fair enough too.

It seems like Devondrick will stay at Perth until he recovers.

At which point could he return?

If that's the case, is the import they want to sign an injury replacement or a replacement?

There's many variables.

I think some other guys like Elliot Williams or LaDontae Henton could be better although Williams is coming off a knee injury.
