Prather Not Returning to Perth

Per an email to members, they can't match offers he's getting elsewhere.

"other teams" offering more money.

Could those be other NBL teams???

I doubt we couldn't have matched any offers from another NBL team, especially not having signed a 3rd import yet...

Maybe it was the combination of Cotton and Prather wanting an increase over last year - fair enough too being the 2 time team MVP.

Strange.

Got the Cotton e-mail last week but not this Prather one?

Probably a good thing for league parity. I'd be surprised if there's a higher offer from another NBL club. He must be demanding some pretty high coin elsewhere.

Hasn't perth only signed 1 import so far? Or do they have McKay for another year.

McKay has already signed with a team in Spain.

McKay has already signed in Spain.

Prather was a real revelation last season. He said pre-season that he returned with a new aresenal, which proved to be true.

His shooting improved, so did his finishing and handles when he had to assume the point duties during the injuries.

Big loss, but the Wildcats would not have been banking on him returning.

So maybe JJ for a third time.

No really, just joking.

Kobe has already said there isn't a 3 import spot. Don't even suggest that.

So who are the 2?

Cotton and ??

They need three imports now that Webster has told the Wildcats he is opting out. Cotton plus replacement 3 and replacement 5. This is guessing of course, they may elevate Brandt to starter since he has re-signed.

Lets hope they take their time this year and do it correctly.

We all remember the JJ debacle.

I just checked the Israel team JJ is now playing for - Ironi Nes Ziona and its the same team that Beal went too! Both Beal and JJ are now team mates.

Prather was excellent last year. A loss for the league. Presumably Europe will nab him?

That was before Webster was released.

Prather was absolutely outstanding last season but I think the biggest difference in the two seasons he had here was he wasn't in foul trouble as much last season and could play more aggressive later in games and wasn't subbing straight out after coming back onto the floor like his 1st season. That continuity made him a star.

Good luck Casey and I hope you can return one day and enjoy the adulation of the Red Army once again

Kestleman digging deeper into his pockets to help Brisbane out, perchance? The wording on the thank you post was weird, and it's not usually like Perth media comms to pass up an opportunity to spin a situation to make them look better by saying something like it was Europe beckoning, instead of just "other teams"... Will be interesting to see if that Red Army adulation turns sour if he gets a bigger NBL payday lol...
