Wildcats appoint new CEO

"The Perth Wildcats and Perth Lynx are pleased to announce the appointment of Troy Georgiu as Chief Executive Officer of the organisation.

Georgiu began with the Perth Wildcats in 2002 and has been the club's commercial manager for the last 10 years.

The 39-year-old is currently responsible for the club’s corporate partnerships and commercial revenue, in addition to managing key stakeholder relationships with Perth Arena and the NBL."

Thoughts? Certainly would know the Wildcats operation well. I'm not sure his experience outside of his time with the Wildcats though. A relatively young CEO.

Big shoes to fill and he will have a lot of pressure to do well, but he'll have everything he needs to have the opportunity to succeed. I think it's good that he's been at the club for so long already. They don't need an overhaul in any area, they have a good thing going on which has been a successful formula on and off the court. They just need someone who can bring something new and make fresh positive changes, but do it by building on what we already have that already works. Hopefully he does a good job.

Just goes to show how much you know about Jack Bendat.

He isn't one of Australia's richest for no reason.

Winning certainly helps but OFF court work is one of the reasons Perth is a major success

Firstly, no one scored 50 in the playoffs. Which one were you watching?

Secondly, the Wildcats were forced to let JJ go, they didn't go find Cotton to cut JJ.

Lastly, please tell us more about how just spending more money = success. Sydney? Melbourne?

Good luck to Troy.

Didn't John Rillie score 45 in a final or S/F?

Bryce Cotton scored 45 in the GF-clinching game. That's probably what they're referencing.

Rillie's was in an EF (elimination final) vs. Perth in Perth, but that was 34pts.

He did hold a record for 45pts scored in a game being the most by an Aus player. But that was beaten by Cattalini for Cairns 51 vs. Bullets.

Caption reads:

NBL star John Rillie scores a career high 45 points as the West Sydney Razorbacks defeat the Wollongong Hawks in the 2004 NBL semi finals. It remains the most ever points scored by an Australian player in an NBL playoff match.
