Yep it's true. The Boomers helped him to decide to play footy.

How the boomers make him go to football, nothing about that in the article.

Greenwood was slated for a spot in the Boomers. He missed out and about 2 weeks later left the Wildcats and crossed over to AFL.

Greenwood was not slated for a spot...he expected one and when Damian Martin was chosen over him and he spat the dummy and walked.

Nothing to do with Damian Martin.

Good on him I reckon.

The timing was horrible for the Wildcats, but if this where his passion is then it's the right call. He has done really well to get to this point.

Interesting to read the old topic here about this and how so many people then were so very very wrong.

Hugh was told he would be an injury replacement, they called up Martin over him and he spat his chewie. My source is close to Hugh.

Why did he think he was so entitled re: Boomers place when he was fresh out of college?

Does it matter? It's all 2 years ago now. Point is Hugh as worked hard and elevated from the reserves to the cusp of a spot with the Crows.

Wish him all the best of luck.

Gliddon, captain of an NBL club so yeah, I'd say that did work out pretty well.

Those that have suggested that it was Martin 'in' seem to really have not understood the issue. Martin was out with a calf injury and Greenwood was over looked for the inclusion of Gliddon.
Greenwood left and is now kicking goals. The thread at the time is ridunculous with so many people saying " it can't be true".
HG is a smart cookie and is now reaping the rewards.
A troll said then "Gee that sooky attitude would really see him as a success in AFL..."
Oh another one "Hugh is too pretty for AFL, he would get messed up big time....."
LC said "Can't see it happening."
Schen said "Don't know why Gliddon is picked."
GWB said "I am confused why Lemanis picked Gliddon over Greenwood when you consider Greenwood would know the plays and he didn't even play Gliddon. "
Another troll said "Seems a bit silly to play basketball for free for 4 years before making this decision."
GWB said " hope he crashes and burns."
Naph said "Wish him all the best, but have to think that he'll regret it."
Jick said "Absolute dog act by the kid."
That says it all.
Good luck Hughie, prove them all wrong. Broad shoulders and you have heard it all before I know. Just shows you how many spiteful people post here without understanding the whole picture.

He's in. Congrats. Hard work pays off.
Greenwood has been the Club's best performer in the SANFL where he’s averaging 24 disposals (15 contested), eight tackles, seven clearances and a goal a game this year.

Earning a spot on the senior list is the start of another chapter in Greenwood’s remarkable story.

The athletic left-footer hadn’t played football competitively for eight years when he gave up a contract with NBL team, Perth Wildcats, and signed with Adelaide as a Category-B rookie in September, 2015.

Good riddance. I only want true bballers playing our sport in our league. These athletes who have half an eye and a hardon for other sports do us a disservice if they stay.

Nothing at all. The idiots that bagged Greenwood for making the switch have been called out. All they can do is continue to post more crap.

All the best to Hughie!

You will get trolls wherever you go and I think those mentioned above were more angry because they were excited to see him play for their team in the NBL only to lose him.

It's a shame to see him go because his basketball talent was special and it's always a bit rarer to find a basketball talent over AFL but I wish him all the best.

Good luck to Hugh.

One thing, though. He didn't exactly play for free. He got a University degree with no HECS fees, plus a life experience, few others get.

Sad that people have to troll him on here.

What does it really matter?

Life's too short for regrets or caring what others think. It's his life.
