Great Stuff- A strong start to the season probably set it up and I hope he takes that confidence and form into a great season with the 36trs
Jason Dix was well off the pace. Sullivan took a lot of his votes.
Jye and Cam Wilson were closer.

Thats a bit sexist anonymous don't you think? I personally think that the women are far more skilled
it was in jest can't u see the irony
only the men's vote gets put up nobody seemed to put up the women's winner which would have been announced first.
and simply if i read it right mr blackwell is isaac's girlfriend hence he's rung or text the happy news as he quite rightly would pleased with the outcome
good luck to oscar i'm sure he deserves it

Congrats to Oscar and best wishes for a successful NBL season!
A deserving winner.
Congrats to Forman. I'm surprised Dix was so far off the pace. How did Cam Wilson poll?
#47880, Why post a comment in Oscar's moment of glory. Couldn't simply just asking who the female winner was with some manners be fine instead of having a bitch about someone who just wanted to post and share the good news. It's just annoying how no men go around calling the women players inferior but by posting a comment such as "who cares about the women" it shows insecurity on your part maybe suggesting that's what you actually view the women as.
I noticed it's a trend on these forums. Just do another thread for the women and stop stirring. If you want people to talk about the women, why not start posting yourself?

Halls medallist was Vikki Kelson. Next was Francis. Also in the top ten (from memory) were Marsh (in the middle), M Bowley (4th or 5th?), Braithwaite (10th), Erin Phillips maybe 6th or 7th.
Woollacott went to Oscar Forman who hung on despite losing a few critical 3-votes to Darren Ng (who had a great finish to the year). Boti Nagy had sneakily tricked Oscar into thinking that Wilson was the winner on the way back from the Blitz, so we were very surprised that he held on to win!
Oscar had 31 votes and Wilson finished on 29. I think Watson was in the top four? Dix finished on 24, Sullivan on 23 (did very well I thought). Brad Davis snuck into the top ten? Puddifoot was in there and Darren Ng finished well in the top ten. Phillips in there too.
Oscar also won the national Defensive Rebounds award for 12.1 DRPG. Todd Gower won the national Steals title for his 3.5 SPG.
Brad Gerlach won the U21 award.
Puddifoot won defensive player for the men.
All Star Five was Dix, Forman, Ng, Watson, Wilson. Hambour probably a bit unlucky. Not sure for the women.
As has been explained -- I messaged my girlfriend when the award was announced, but neglected the womens winner as she would not know who the contenders were.
Good night with a decent venue, decent food considering the volume (350 people!) and positive vibe. Everyone was in a good mood and while there were a few smaller points about the evening that I think could be improved (very minor), the organisers deserve to be congratulated. Those I spoke to thought that it was an improvement on past years.
I'd like to see All Star Five and then Second and Third teams considered in the future for guys like Hambour, Phillips, Vandenbergh, Puddifoot, etc. Also, perhaps a Best Defensive Team? Or are these overkill?
big night?

Hoops seems real quiet this morning, how many people are going to be no-shows for work today?

No such thing as overkill at an awards ceremony, Isaac. Here's a couple more:
Best Sixth Man
Best Towel Waver
Best Meat Truck
Best Rings
Best Canteen
Best Dunk
Best Fight
Best High-Five
Best Kiss
Best Over-35 (hey, if you get one for being U21...)
Best Haircut
Longest Shorts
And last, but not least: the Hoops SA MVP - Most Valuable Poster. Now THAT is an award worth winning!

I think the halls medal winner can take notice of how to Oscar conducted himself on stage after winning. ie no swearing!!!

More awards:
Cayla Francis was Player of the Year and U21 winner. Richard Hill won men's Coach of the Year and Michael Williams won it in the womens.
Boti has reported that Oscar is the first Sturt winner of the Woollacott since Jeff Bickmore in 1996.
Jason Dix got the men's Player of the Year award.
In the women's polling for the Halls medal, Kelson had 40 votes, and Francis and Erin Seward were equal runner up with 29.

well done to Richard and Mike. Both coached the majority of the season without an Asst. coach!!
Well done to all the award winners!
Can anyone from BASA or anyone who remained sober last night give us the top 10 (including their total votes) in the mens and womens.
Oscar Im in New York right now, congrats on the medal, well deserved!

How did Ben Madgen do? Not to put to much of a negative spin on things but how is this kid with the sixers?
Isaac
Years ago
Madgen didn't get many votes (4-8 perhaps?). He's in the Sixers squad because he impressed the coaches at training.

excuse the ignorance,
but whats the different criteria for the woollacott and mens player of the year? whats the difference

Former voted by referees on a 3-2-1 basis. Not sure on the latter, but may be voted by coaches and team captains. I think this is how the All Star Five is determined.
Can anyone confirm?
this kid is with the sixers because he trained the house down at the Sixers pre-season Pt Lincoln camp.
With Watson, Gower, Hambour, Wood (ineligable for a spot), Gerlach, McDonald, Zorich, Sutton, and himself all vyeing for only a couple of spots, he was a stand-out.

I'm alive, but only just. But I did have to drop my liver off at Rehab yesterday morning! Unfortunately I don't think the little fella is going to make it.
It was a really good night had by all. Congratulations must go to all the award winners, especially "Ocsar" and to my favourite South girl, Vikki Kelson.
I think the Panthers must get an award for being the most vocal team on the night!
It was really good to see everyone out after socialising together, great night all round!
