Patty on the Trade Table?

A lot of articles have been written about this that are all speculative. Today however Parker was out and was replaced in starting 5 by rookie PG Dejounte Murray who scored 24 points and had 1 turnover in 34 mins.

I know it's only one game but if he can't get good minutes when Parker is out and plenty of teams need a decent back up PG or starter, will he get shipped in the next month?

Don't think Spurs trade him, too valuable role player off the bench!
What Patty will get is a nice new contract next season. Either the Spurs will pay him or someone else will!
He will get more then Delly's contract too. If it wasn't for the shoulder surgery he had to have after they won the championship we would got a lot more then 12mil/4 years he got from the spurs.

I'm thinking somewhere in the 50-60 million mark over 5 years would be around the mark.

The funniest rumour was Houston had a deal in place for Rudy gay in place but Rudy just injured himself and is out for atleast 10 to 12 months now.

Silly rumours - Mills & Aldridge are safe in San Antonio.

Mills almost never is placed into the starting 5, they prefer him to be a spark off the bench like Ginobili once was.

There's definitely no element of players being promoted above him or anything like that.

Why would the Spurs trade Patty?

he knows the system, is having the best season of his career and is getting paid less than he's worth

*Spurs are not ones for blockbuster mid season trades,so no, not up for trade. Plus MVPatty is on a very user friendly salary to the Spurs.
*End of season he will get some nice offers. Spurs will pay reasonable money but they won't go silly. They have to try and resign Dedmon and the other I think is Simonds. Best they could hope for in Patty takes a bit of a discount to stay like Green and Kawhi etc.
*Pop is reluctant to move MVPatty from the 2nd unit as his value in that position is too great especially when he is on with Manu (as Manu is still a brilliant playmaker)
*Murray was by reports amazing today. He is still very raw. But keep in mind Denver defensively are very very very average at the moment.
*David Lee is the surprise this season and seems to have settled in very well. Bertans is the other with that beautiful 3 stroke.
*There is still the odd Holiday rumour and he would be very handy if healthy but would also be in demand.
*Crazy to think that Bertans was in the Kawhi trade for George Hill.

Regards Choppy.

Correct

If the Spurs think he is likely to re-sign elsewhere, maybe they would trade him.

Seems a risky move to me though, Murray isn't really ready for big consistent minutes (despite his 24 today), and Parker has slowed down considerably. Meaning Patty is a key piece in trying for this season's championship.

Mills has never started when Parker's been out.
Murray just happened to have a blinder of a game.

Mills is barely a point guard. He's a small sg that shouldn't start pg in NBA but can cover off the bench.

Patty started the first four games Parker has sat. The lineups didn't work and the second unit fluffed. He only started because Murray wasn't yet ready and the jury was out on Laprovittola, after these four games, the remaining SEVEN where Parker has missed Murray or Laprovittola have started, the latter being cut recently.

Also go back previous seasons and Mills was never the preferred starting PG behind Parker, always staying in his same role.
