Sydney Kings v Wildcats - Sat 19th 7:30pm AESST

Well Perth's solid win last night has hopefully sparked interest in this game. Sydney deserve to be favourites at home, but it should still be a great game. Hopefully the game didn't take too much out of McKay, and he can increase his minutes.

I think Sydney got rattled early, interesting to see how they fare on their home court.

Anyone know what ticket sales are like?
Taking on the reigning champions, in a "top of the table" clash, both the Kings and the NBL need this to be massive.

Sydney can't afford to get beaten up inside the paint again. Have some pride boys! Fight like mad Lions.

If they bring an extra 10% intensity compared to last night, they win. The crowd will help there.

Sydney will win with ease. Perth got a great start and didn't look back, without the home town behind them will be much more flat. Kings get rolling and it could be a blow out.

The athleticism of the Wildcats made the difference on Friday, added by Matty Knight's strong rebounding.

Expect the same with, hopefully, McKay recovering from his illness and contributing fully. That would be awesome.

Perth will undoubtedly try to do the same thing they did on Thu night, i.e. crash the offensive board, attack as close to the paint as possible, push as fast as they can in transition after defensive rebound and try their luck whenever they get open looks when ahead in the scores. Gee... that sounded like what most coaches would want their players to do... funny that...

IMO, Deano going to have a lot on his plate trying to nail defensive tactics and matchups. Maric, Powell and Whittington need to step up more. Cadee was absolute rubbish Thursday, didn't focus harder on defence with his 0 pt offence. If he's AWOL again on offense I'd be in favour of benching him for Prewster.

Hill also didn't get any playing time, I'm wondering why Gaze persists with Garlepp all the time because of his supposed 'offensive' ability off the bench. So far this season when you need Garlepp to fire, he's came up duds or his offense made minimal impact. Take a gamble with Hill more often I reckon, there were some situation where he'd be a better defensive presence and may even provide offence on par with what Garlepp could produce.

Reply #608825 | Report this post

good front court vs good back court could go either way but I think the kings bounce back. wildcats will be satisfied after friday night but kings will be fired up and out for sweet revenge in front of the home fans.

Kings back in the pack if they loose this one, should win though. Cadee has to get back to early season form and Blake has to show more at both ends. Should be great game be interesting to see how many people turn up.

It's an interesting one. While we speak of Perth's backcourt being weakened, if you look at their perimeter trio of Prather, Johnson and Kenny it is very capable. If they get contributions from Bragg and Kernich-Drew again they can make this a real ball game.

It's been a season of bouncing back after losses though, the Kings will defend better than they did on Thursday, and you'd hope for their sake they'll be tougher in the paint.

Expecting Kings to probably win, but hopefully Cats put up good fight. No doubt the Kings will come out fired up and ready to redeem themselves, but the cats will come out full of confidence that they can win this. Should be a good game.

If the Kings get physically dominated like in WA, I reckon Gazey needs to try something different.
Bench Cadee & Blake.
Try Newley in the 2.
Use Hill instead of Garlepp.
If the bigs can't rebound, give Moller a crack - kid can rebound.

In other words, don't give guys minutes based on reputation, base it on effort.

Effort = Results. Just ask the Cats : )

@Air Delay I like your thinking :). Exactly what I've wanted to see out of Gaze. His inexperience is starting to show in terms of being predictable and slow to react to opposing coaches' tactics.

I wanna see a starting line-up of Lisch, Newley, Whittington, Powell and Maric. Shake things up, bring in Hill to sub for either Powell or Maric, or depending on match-up bring in Moller.

Uggh, just when things are looking up for Perth, that injury to Knight will be costly.
McKay and Brandt need to really find something now, or the Cats need to go shopping for a new import. Barely know which way to turn at the moment. F@#%!

Game was ok, good game by the Kings, predictable result. Once they got their tails up, they were going to be hard to beat at home. Just a little disappointed in the way Perth fell away in the last quarter, especially when the points split could become a factor. Good to see a mini run towards the end though. (Loss of Knight obviously a factor, and could render the split moot.)

Personally I find the refs aren't intimidated by the Perth crowd and sometimes seem like they even like the negative reaction.

You seem salty Mike won and you didn't

I don't see anything wrong with what Dazz said

Knight is an awesome player, but even as a Kings fan I cringe every time he hits the court.

Entertaining game, and Perth fought hard to keep themselves in it. Good to see Blake find the bottom of the net a few times and Powell getting a steady diet of post feeds. Newley is world class going to the basket, too. Some of his finishes... wow.

Some more good minutes by Bragg tonight for Perth - definitely think he's destined to be the next Weeks. A couple of mistakes at the end of his court time, but that's to be expected.

Perth dosent need a big to replace Knight because Brandt, Mckay, Wagstaff and redhage are more then enough . they need a pure 2 guard.Someone who can break defences down off the dribble. Kenny, Martin and Bragg are more then enough at the 1.I would look at someone who can penetrate and be a secondary playmaker/passer.
