Injury Replacements
Every time this discussion comes up, I keep forgetting the whole, "can't return" issue. IMHO it's a PITA.
IIRC the relevent rule says something to the effect that once you remove a player from your list (except somebody on an injury waiver) then he can't return, except to replace somebody with a season ending injury.
Luuuc, I don't think it's even a loophole to fix. If the Wildcats want to have Lucas Walker on standby all season, and he's happy to do that, why shouldn't that be allowed? So yeah, in the Lucas Walker scenario, he can't be used to replace anyone else.
The whole 'have to replace a season-ending injury' thing has never really made sense to me.
I can remember, like 20 years ago, there was a minor furore because the Cats signed an injury replacement for one player, then de-listed him when the injured player returned, and immediately re-signed him to replace another injured player.
IIRC it wa 1997 and Fisher missed most of the year with a knee reco, then in the finals Crawford was injured, so we brought back Fisher and effectively kept the same replacement player. I never saw the problem with that, but perhaps that was one of the reasons why this rule was introduced.
I guess the problem is, that without this rule (or something similar) a club could effectively hire an 11th (now 12th) player and use the injury ruse to rotate them throughout the year.
