BNSW running games on Mother's Day

The NSW Country junior league is played over only 3-4 dates.

When so few days are played on in a season, should they play on mothers day, when so many other days are available?
To me mothers day is a family day and there was no need to play games this wkend.

BNSW has always been about collecting rego fees from the associations!!

Martinez and his boys club within bnsw are a joke!

a 10 game season with the games played over 4 dates would i think support anon 850 above
The low number of games provided as a season is a disgrace.

Morning shouldit,

We are sorry if your mothers day was disrupted by having to attend a basketball game, we agree mothers day is a family day!

Per your comments, the basketball calendar is rather packed, there is not a weekend without some basketball activity happening across the State.

We do however allow the participating Associations to have a say on the dates they want to play, so please ensure to let your Association know. They can then raise this when the dates for 2017 & 2018 competitions are discussed in a few months time.

In general, all regional leagues EJL, NJL, SJL & WJL games are scheduled to be played in the first two weekends of a month whilst CPL is played the last weekend of the month.

There are many factors that also come into play when allocating rounds such as the availability of venues, availability of human resources (coaches, managers, referees), avoiding clashes with other events and other sports.

If you would to discuss this further you can reach me by email on [email protected] or call 02 8765 8555 and ask for Geoff.

If you need to take a special day out of 365 to celebrate your mother, then it's you who's really failed here. It's a Hallmark holiday. Relax.

Geoff from BNSW gave you:

1. A personal reply
2. Valid reasons the scheduling
3. An avenue to change things for the future if you want to make the effort
4. An invitation to personally discuss your issue

That's customer service x 10,000 compared to most organisations!!!!

Anyway, what better place for a family gathering than a basketball stadium watching the kids running around

You are all getting carried away, read the 1st post, a question was asked!

"When so few days are played on in a season, should they play on mothers day, when so many other days are available?"

Surely it is a valid question! Answers/solutions are able to be given.

Glad you keep an eye on this site and speak on behalf of BNSW.

On a side note. When is BNSW gonna get off their bums and start developing players in NSW on the same scale as the Victorians? The TAP, NITP programs is a waste of time and a money grab for BNSW.

Its embarrassing to see Cadee walk around in stadiums like he is the guru coach but yet talking to association board members they feel he's done jack in the way of developing the next generation of kids from NSW and he has the title of BNSW Coaching Director if I'm not mistaking.

Can you get a reply from Cadee to answer this questions?

Hey anon #166, Geoff posted his contact details for you. How about you ring him personally, introduce yourself and then ask him the same questions directly?

No you wont do that because its easier to grandstand on a faceless nameless website!

BNSW have a policy that states members should not contact BNSW directly, but should go thru their club!

BNSW have a policy of no feedback to juniors or parents after they have conducted events/trials/camps etc which
I find ridiculous.

I was surprised when Geoff Tripp made comments on this site hence why I took the opportunity to ask him a question.

No grandstanding mate, I just want my child and other juniors in nsw to get the best coaching possible thru bnsw
to avoid them feeling interest and switch to AFL.

Anon #166, developing players?
It's not the be all and end all, but the NSW Country/Metro U18 Men took out the Gold and Bronze last year at the AJC, and the NSW Metro U18 Men took out the bronze this year... The same success hasn't been seen in the girls, but when are they going to 'start' developing athletes.. I think it's been happening for quite some time.

And I think its difficult to compare development between NSW and VIC. Private schools in NSW have a strong hold on athletes which sometimes counters the programs that BNSW try and run, whereas in Victoria school basketball means very little versus the club system which is the be all and end all for basketball.

Also, Cadee retired from BNSW quite sometime ago.

Cadee has not retired from BNSW.

He got out of running the Coaching Dept and has gone over to the BNSW College of Basketball dept which is Head Coached by Peter Lonergan.

Cadee is apparently the admin person for that dept.

Cadee rarely did any coaching in the programs.

That was done by Watkins until he went back to Victoria,as well as Gruggen until he went to Townsville andsince Townsville are gone from the NBL he has just picked up a job in Brisbane running there south qld elite player program which he put on Facebook yesterday.
Shannon Seebohm took over the NITP program from Watkins and he is not doing much there whilst he still the Flames Head Coach and is the Australian U/17 Womens Coach.

Nathan Kirwan has taken over Cadees role and we will have to wait and see what he brings to the table and BNSW are currently advertising for someone to fill his old position of Development Officer which he took on when Gruggan left.

All very interesting but the development of the kids has gone down hill and the results are not good when only one medal was achieved at the recent 18 Nationals.

Also some of the kids who are in NITP say it is boring and it cost $800-00 a year to be in it for approx. 4 camps a year is roughly all they do.

Also there is no Coaches Development anymore unlike when Lonergan and those before him use to do some Coach Dev night or weekend session.

Country boys go from 1st last year to 5th this year with basically the same team but went in with a team full of guards and no genuine hardworking BIGS.

Relied a lot on Dent and Zunic and also did not have Tim Mallon there as an Asst Coach to do the be the brains of the coaching staff.

Country girls finish 4th and Metro girls finished an embarrassing position of around 10th again even with an ex WNBL Coach at the helm which is what Cadee always wanted for each of the teams to have someone Head Coaching who had WNBL or NBL experience.Country girls coach has neither but knew who to suck up to over the years.

So Seebohm has resigned as Flames Coach 8n the Wnbl to take up role with Bnsw which he already had and did not fulfil tye role properly.

Maybe he realis3d being disorganized you cannot do it all.

Let's see what his role is officially and if it is The Nitp role which is what he was employed in the first place then lets See if the kids deVelop.
