36ers to play tournament in Singapore
One other NBL team expected to join the 36ers in Singapore.
THE Adelaide 36ers have accepted an invitation to participate in a tournament in Singapore in September featuring teams from Asia and Europe.
The Basketball Association of Singapore is reintroducing its annual international Merlion Cup tournament which ran successfully from the 1980s until 1996.
Throughout that period, the Merlion Cup was a marquee event on Singapore's sporting calendar, leading to the five-day tournament’s resurrection after a 20-year hiatus.
Basketball Northern Territory also is keen to have the Sixers back in August for the third straight year of games and clinics in Darwin and Palmerston.
BNT chairperson Anne Coleman said the plan was for the 36ers to compete in a three-way tournament against China and a team representing the Philippines, with one match staged in Alice Springs for the first time, funding permitting.
