Premier League What's Hot/What's Not
Premier League kicked off last weekend to very little fanfare. I'm sure there are people who care enough to read about or discuss it though. I didn't make it out to any games on the weekend, so going by eyewitness reports & box scores, but would be interested to hear from people who attended games.
All box scores available here:

What's hot:
- Forestville's men's scoring balance. 5 guys in double figures & two others on 8.
- Tom Cioffi with a 19 & 11 to open the season. How old is that guy?!?
- Leroy putting up a 24, 16 & 7 line with 3 steals. Turning back the clock & continuing on his great pre season form.
- West Adelaide starting young gun Akol Deng.. look out for him!
- Ryan Gardner getting hot for 26 points including 5 3s against Sturt.
- Jan Warbout showing he's not just a B grade footballer with a 15, 12, 2 line with 4 steals & 2 blocks on just 8 shots.
- And undermanned Woodville Warriors taking to the Flames, only being down 2 at half time.
- Matt Lycett putting up 25, 18 & 5 on 69% shooting as the Flames rolled over the Warriors. Last years Woollacott Medalist & premiers haven't skipped a beat.
- Mitch Creek showing his class with 33, 12 & 5 to go with 3 steals & 2 blocks in Tigers demolition of Centrals. Sam Johns also with 16, 7 & 8 + 5 steals.
- Southern Tigers social media presence, with tons of photo's available on Facebook including a nice montage of Mitch Creeks huge dunk (is any footage available?)
- Tigers getting hot for a 42-15 final quarter.
- Forestvile (9/23), Norwood (10/24) & Southern (12/32) showing that 3s are in vogue to start the season.
- Liv Thompson putting up 29, 12 & 4 for Forestville.
- Shayde Quintrell with 21 & 3, keeping the Mavs competitive against a strong Forestville side.
- North using a balanced attack to easily account for West.
- Ieva Nagy with 26 for South in a lone hand against Sturt.
- U20 Anne Hatchard scoring 16 for Sturt off the bench, including 4/9 3s
- Norwood rolling for their 25th straight (?) win in the women, with 4 in double figures.
- Woodville import Tavarsha Scott pulling in 19 rebounds to go with 15 points on debut.
- Southern Tigers getting a near 60 point win, in what appears to be the start of a much better season for them. Mollie McKendrick coming back to Tiger land with 27 & 10, while import Ta'Rea Cunnigan also had 27. All 5 starters hitting double figures.
What's not:
- Centrals losing by a combined 102 points. Tough times for two rookie coaches who may be in for long seasons.
- Centrals women's starters having almost as many turnovers (28) and points (32)
- Woodville & Norwood women combining to shoot 28% for the games. Talk about pre-season rust...
- South starting back court of Cunningham & Johnson combining to shoot 4/29.
- Centrals men allowing an 8 point half time deficit to deteriorate to a 44 point loss.
- Eastern Mavs (0/13), Centrals (3/21) & Woodville (3/18) showing that 3s sound good in theory but aren't always effective!
- South import Chris Johnson starting his PL debut with 2 points, 9 rebounds & 5 turnovers in 20 mins. The pre-season hype may have been over blown!
- Centrals import Nathan Marsing scoring 8 points on 3/13 to go along with 4 turnovers.
- North import Cody Rhorer with just 9 points, 0 reb & 1 ast.
- 49, 50 & 51 fouls being called in 3 of the 5 mens games on the weekend. Hopefully not a trend that continues.
Those that attended games, please add your own what's hot & what's not items here. Would love to be able to hear able all the games each week in threads like this.
What game(s) are we most looking forward to this Friday night? What were the crowds like last Friday?
