There are potentially big TV audiences available in Asia (I assume we're talking SE or Eastern Asia.)
Token "Asian" players (whatever they are) are not the answer.
If you could make it work, a team based in say Jakarta would be a great addition. I think quality-wise, we'd have to be looking at very "high-level" (psuedo~national) teams (like the NZ Breakers) rather than local teams (like the Nelson Giants) otherwise the NBL teams would shite allover them.
Whilst Singapore is the most "Western" nation in SE Asia, it's also very small. Not a big enough gene pool to find the exceptional players, and not enough population to provide the viewing audience.
Unless we can get the NBL a lot more balanced, I don't like the idea of just the top clubs playing in a short "Cup" competition, as it will simply give more advantage to the already powerful teams.
