The basketball games are actually part of the Pacific Schools Games. U12 Girls and Boys. U18 Girls and Boys. Teams from all Ausralian states and territories plus, China, India and Macau. Other sports are also involved.

I know that the Vics are playing for the national championships so how does that work? do they play a tournament within the tournament?

This pacific school gmes where teams can be formed from a school or a group of schools. U12 boys and girls and U18 boys and girls played from sunday to Saturday starting this sunday, at Wayville and Pas.

High Schools which happen every November/December are a different kettle of fish.

The Pacific School Games happening in Adelaide is run by School Sport Australia not Basketball Australia. The teams are state teams made up of kids from different schools. The Australian School Champs happening in Canberra the week after have teams of kids representing their school not their state.

They're not state teams.

They are just a collection of kids chosen by school sports in each state. Most of the best kids don't try out or go at the u18 level. u12s is only vaguely more organised.

'state' teams as in they are playing under the banner of south Australia, not playing under blackwood hawks or gawler magpies.

nah at best it's a schools team from South Australia, or representing "some" South Australian schools

Calling them state teams dishonours the real state teams
