NBL partners with Hoyts to show NBL ad in cinemas

The NBL today announced cinema giant @HoytsAustralia as the Official Cinema Partner
The partnership with @HoytsAustralia will see the #HardBall commercial played across HOYTS cinemas as part of the pre-feature advertising!
Roy Ward noted on Twitter that the Hoyts CEO is Damian Keogh which presumably didn't hurt negotiations.

I do laugh at each official partner announcement that isn't a major car, telco or food brand. Official sock partner is my favourite! But this sounds like a no-cost opportunity they might as well take.

It is funny the names for the sponsor deals. " Cinema partner" is just ridiculous haha

Haha I think we're going to start seeing even more obscure partnership titles soon.

Geez, the sponsorship area of the website is starting to get crowded

I like it. A lot of small, quick wins that don't cost much for either party. Supply partnerships could be the first step for some more substantial sponsorship in the future. This is precisely the type of thing an up and coming or league with lesser prominence should be doing

It's like the community radio stations that don't have "commercial advertising." Instead they have "station sponsors" or "community partners."

It's more expensive to go to a Crocs game than the movies.

"NBL Partners with Hoyts" = NBL pays Hoyts to show NBL ads in cinemas. Maybe gets a reduced rate in exchange for splashing the Hoyts logo around a bit, and gets to make the NBL game experience a bit better by having some free movie tickets to hand out. But basically the "big news" is that the league is buying some ad space.

I like this and the opportunity it opens up. Say your team is in the Finals series and has travelled interstate for a game. Your local Hoyts broadcasts the game (ideally free of charge - and they make the money from drinks, food etc). There's a market for this.

Doesn't seem right does it. Occasionally a movie will be 2 hours of good entertainment. Crocs games are like going to the movies knowing that you're about to watch The Fantastic Four.

What they really need to get their name out in the market place?

"AFL - The Official Australian Rules Football Partner of the NBL".
