Derek Rucker just resigned from his previous coaching post in the QBL.

Not sure if he would be ready to step up to a head coaching gig in the NBL though?

Statman,

Rucker already said it won't be him on the Fox broadcast the other night.

Who knows assistant coach maybe?

Statman there was a joke about it on a Fox game. Basically said he quit Gladstone so the other commentator joked is that because you are Brisbane's new head coach? Rucker replied laughing "no way" etc. but maybe he will get some other gig with Bris, assistant or back office?

Surely people know CJ Bruton is already appointed as an assistant?

Yes we do. Also he has been unappointed from Fox commentary duties (you would think there is no way they put him back on air).

One hit wonder though, had great ownership and stacked roster in Auckland.

His first few years at NZ were bad just like everyone before him. Then the Blackwell owners came along and ran it more professionally. Right time right place, will be interesting to see him at it again although might be another comfortable role if league put $$ behind running BRI.

I would be very happy if it is Lemanis.

1) Would mean Joey is a chance to stay with the 36ers next season then. He might not want to but takes the Brisbane coaching job opp off the table.

2) Would likely also mean the Boomers need to appoint a new coach.

Everyone wins!

I think if the league want Brissy to succeed, they will find a way to get $$ into the right areas to make them a success from the get go. They have already started making moves, and I'm sure they are talking to players.... off the record of course, so Lemanis or any other coach will def be walking into a nice environment.

No reason he doesn't stay Aus coach. Goorjian did it Kings & Boomers.

Probably for the best that the Boomers coach be regularly coaching. You can lose touch if you're away from it all for 9 months of the year.

I only mentioned the Boomers gig because it is now a full-time job. Sure he could remain the coach if it goes back to part-time but BA might insist it remain full-time and if so obviously Lemanis will no longer be the coach.

Is it really that well paying? The Aus head coaching job that is. Oh wait funded by taxpayers so it would be generous. Without the commentary isn't Lemanis effectively twiddling his thumbs and getting paid for it?

Andrej Lemanis it is. He will still coach the Boomers at the 2016 Rio Olympics but after that, it's unknown

Remember, the Olympics and international season will be well over before pre-season training for the next season of the NBL commences in earnest.

His coaching tenure as Boomers coach comes up for review after the Olympics anyway IIRC.

Lemanis should be coaching, he's the only National Team Head coach that doesn't coach in the season. All the coaches from other countries coach in there respective leagues or somewhere, could benefit him as he get to keep coaching on a daily basis.

Great Choice, resume speaks for itself.

Should attract some good players being the boomers coach. they will need them, he is shocking. People forget he is jut over 50% winning record at the Breakers, despite having stacked rosters. Very patient owners there
