Where can crowd figures be found consistently? Game reports don't mention them half the time.
It was actually 5505.
I agree though Haz, they are very hard to find consistently

Good crowds at Vector and Hisense today too. Apart from Townsville it's been a solid start for attendance.

So Sydney often have a lot of members who do no show. Anyone at the game can talk about whether they felt there were 5000+ there? You would hope for the start of the season they had a good roll-up.

Looked like a good crowd on TV, after it was almost empty just before tip-off!

Looked to be about 4,500-5,000 bums in seats to me.
http://www.austadiums.com is the official place. Unfortunately the TEC don't seem to post figures there.
5505 as mentioned above but when it's all said and done it's and 'official' guess.
Crowd 5500 sydneys population 3000 000+
Crowd 2000 Townsville's population 180 000
So for a city that has 2.8 million more people they only get 2500 more people to the game. Slack Sydney.

Could have been more considering it was a Saturday night. They would probably be a bit disappointed with that turnout for round 1 after all the hype, but 5500 is a solid crowd in the NBL.
Townsville however are in much bigger trouble. You can compare populations between Townsville and Sydney and say that only 2500 more people went to the the Sydney game, but the truth is Townsville only have their local support to really justify them being in the league.
They don't offer much value for the league's commercial interests, are in a very small market and it clearly looks like the town has deserted them. If they can get 3500-4000 a game like they should (like Cairns do), then they're a decent success for the league (like Cairns). But their paltry support would at least be be justified if they were based in a key market like Brisbane or Sydney. They really need their fans to show up.

Where does the 2000 number come from? No way it was anywhere near that.
Yeah Townsville didn't release a crowd figure they are covering up their crappy attendance. Every # should be disclosed.

That configuration sits 7500 I think so they're basically saying there were 500 spare seats. Would that be right?
Someone get Townsville to disclose their attendance. Very amatuerish having gaps in crowd stats.

I didn't realise that paul.
Yeah 500 spare seats is about right.
Isn't Hisense capacity 10k? or what you Melbournites are saying is it wasn't only configured for 7.5k max?
