It was just a question, I thought it would be weird for Mornington to consider due to the direction they have stated they are going and wanting to support in house players. But thought I would ask the question as it did surface in conversation that it was a possibility and that talks may have already started.

Agree Are you kidding me; if this is true and they are even considering it is contempt to treat their members like morons. They are business men with no idea on basketball, thus the reason for removing DeMarcus was so easy for them, they can disengage feelings and remove someone with a clear conscience in their eyes. So much has been said that if they just focused on the business side then all would of run smoothly and progression would of happened; it was happening. But because they fixed the financials they thought they could fix the basketball as well which isn't and wont happen with the structures they are implementing.
I suppose the short end is you have choices, stay or leave.....I've left this place while it is under this regime; perhaps for ever if happier where I am going.

Makes sense really he would be great as coaching co ordinator plus suiting at that level he'd dominate so could be a win win. Surely thou he'd play seabl if he still had the desire to play

I heard around he is looking for director of coaching jobs and I think he is based bayside so it makes sense. Plus long term he could be a great fit for the club. The playing part should come second to what he can bring to the club which is alit more than Berry could

#764 I did and a few others are doing the same; people can only deal with so much BS for so long. I see they are calling a meeting for families to attend; why? You have informed everyone your direction and have done the sell for 12mths. The only reason for a meet the families is to spin more BS and it shows you are concerned that your direction isn't being accepted by the members and feel the need to try and sell it........screams desperation. Face it committee most do not support your direction or your regime.

Community focused club is a term used by the current regime but not the fantastic people of the club.
I had a friend who's child was on a 4th team and wasn't happy with the minutes they were getting say "what the committee are doing is fantastic for those kids who are not as good as it gives them an opportunity to play on 2nd teams or perhaps even 1st teams".......enough said right there of their direction.

Must have missed the Keysborough ones, Mornington I get why people bitch about it and not because of the people, it's their management that is driving the most sane insane, Frankston, well they are in the middle of a mass clean out by the look so plenty of disgruntled people there who will vent, Casey, haven't heard to much from them more people whinging about some preferential treatment they are receiving or that they haven't achieved much considering the growth there and poor Hobart, like Keysborough I must have missed it.

I like thought it was BS and that in no way would it happen. Obviously everyone does have their price. Not sure if all this money being thrown around will help; suppose only time will tell. Will this attract coaches there? I'm guessing no, will it attract new players from elsewhere; well even if it does they won't be allowed unless you live 30km and move to the area.

Good news for a local club. Hope he is given every opportunity to improve the situation there. Looks like they are finally getting some good Bball heads at the club. Plenty of players will line up to play beside Adam.

Agree happy days it gives some credibility (not in my eyes) but you can't buy people's passion. When you remove a DOC mid season and state its restructuring, there was no advertisement for the position (which seems very similar to the person they removed someone from) that Adam is coming into people should be questioning how this all came about and what is the club outlaying for all these experts. Please don't interpret this as bad blood but when you state one thing and do the opposite you lose credibility with me, I think it's fantastic they have a DOC and that he seems to have the desire and drive to want to do it. He will be there to assist and assess I assume the coaches from U12-16 which can only be a positive.

If he is fulltime they would be paying around 70-80k taking into consideration what Demarcus was on.These days it is very easy to move people on by making them redundant and changing the position description.Unfortunately theres no real come back if executed correctly.Good to see Demarcus has landed on his feet as he is a genuine guy with a nice family.

$60 is steep; that's about a 14% rise? And when you consider their domestic comp is one of the highest on the Peninsula I think we can see where all this money is coming from for these specialist coaches. I just hope that most of the club benefits from it and not just select few. Take a deep breath, sit back and watch from afar I will be doing. If someone actually gets it right on the Peninsula they will strike gold; I honestly think they are too self absorbed down here.

Its a risky strategy upping your fees in this current environment as a lot families are struggling. I know some junior football clubs have hardship funds which allow families under financial duress to give there kids the opportunity to play footy at no charge. Its nice to see theres still some compassion out there not just egos.

Happy Days you are spot on; disappointing when you consider rep families will be hit by fuel hikes, rego etc. that have a massive impact on them; perhaps the thought process is they can afford it down here. I wonder if they will increase the amount paid to VJBL coaches seeing as they have $$$$$ to be throwing around lol

Families in the mortgage belt are price sensitive so if you up your fees it means something has to give somewhere else. Its all about offering value for money.Parents are pretty cluey these days so they know when they are being milked by absorbent fees.

I agree with you Peninsula and Happy; best be careful not to put it out of the price bracket of the average family, especially if your goal if for Rep players to come from your domestic program which is already overpriced.
Jury out I suppose for at least 12-24mths to see if the direction was the right one; I am curious how others would measure success; Is it player numbers (whether it be domestic or rep)? Is it rankings? Is it state players? Is it senior teams with local players? I have my opinion but curious what others think.

Interesting insane, i had to stop and think about this one. I believe success is measured in sport by results and rankings. In a basketball club you would want a competitive plump dom comp that feeds into a high ranking rep comp with experienced coaches that can develop players and younger coaches. Senior bball (big v) should be a successful pathway for jnrs to inspire to and can bring the club together

Personally I measure success in basketball by its domestic growth and quality, with this improvement it usually has a flow on effect to VJBL & seniors....not always but it usually. Obviously coaches and incoming players also assist on the VJBL and senior side in keeping and improving rankings.

If Ballinger is willing to roll up the sleeves and get involved with the club at all levels then its a great appointment. nobody here knos what the pay is so its all speculative anyway.

So many clubs (usually small ones) get on here and bag out others for what they are apparently spending. You speak to that person and they don`t get half that amount.

Sadi it before on here but the most noise is made by the small few as they struggle to be heard and noticed. "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME"

With this signing, this obviously means Mornington will be fielding a Senior Mens team in 2016, contrary to another post. Will they also be entering Senior Womens and Youth Men & Womens too ?

They will be feilding all four teams, which once again smack to the credibility of most of the stuff posted on here. Its just other small clubs taking pot shots at each other.

Yes they are Dwayne but to understand the reservations had by some you need to understand that when someone high (very high) up in the food chain says and I state "We are losing money hand over fist on the senior program, why do we run it? Pointless program that doesn't generate us any money and if I had my way it wouldn't run"; based on this and this other conversation "Can we run just Youth League?"; it was assumed the senior program was in jeopardy of not running. This conversation was held in front of a couple of people so it's not heresy. Glad it is running but I hope it is not filled with outsiders like they are stipulating with the junior program.

Reality is none of these programs whether it be SEABL or Big V make money. The issue is how much can you afford to lose. Throw in local football clubs trying to poach many of their bigs as quality ruckmen are a dime a dozen.

Agree with Insane - people could have been given to think all was going with the comments he writes. One would expect that they should follow the same rules in all programs but only time will tell. What about previous club player - who have gone for one reason or another - some even going to other sports - will they be given an opportunity or will they be excluded. Many things to play out. Will be an interesting time.

Ballinger is operating the boys side U12-16 and Raelene (I think that's her name, the women's coach) the girls side. That's what was delevered at this parents information session, as well as the $60 increase and more BS from Pres.
