U18 head coach @Norwood

With the new season fast approaching, who will be the head coach for U18s at Norwood?
I have previously seen them announce all the head coaches in other age groups but still haven't heard about who will be taking U18s.
Does anyone have any idea?

The current 16 D2 boys coach. Dramas with coaches at Norwood! Going back a few years they had one of the best coaching line-ups in SA juniors, but all have departed due to the current committee and president.

I've heard similar stories. A pretty stadium doesn't develop players - people develop players!!

as a parent at norwood, the fact they dont have a U18s div 1 coach is unsettling
but from what i have heard around the club, the committee isnt helping the cause to find a new coach.... if anything they are making it harder (but that is just rumour and gossip, not sure if that is fact)

well look at the CD when you can't attract coaches and ask the question is that the CD you need.

A simple look at the premiership tables at season end will show that Norwood's performance, and does that mean development (?), is below average and certainly not at the super club level if you were to believe all their hype.

For Division 1 there are 40 available spots in first round of finals (from U10 to U18). An average number of teams participating is 4 from each club. Norwood has 3 teams participating - below average!!

The same can be said for Division 2 - only 3 teams participating - below average!!

What is wrong with this club???

It takes a little time to recover from a mess. Things are in a lot better state than the last couple of years. BTW, not true about above rumour of the coach.

#547820 Explain the mess? Norwood have been in steady decline for past 5 years at least. They are only propped up in juniors by a steady flow of country kids, the whole 16 -1 girls and coach are country based.
Success at senior level is great, but this certainly does not translate into a healthy club across the board. Extremely poor group of coaches with limited experience to boot.

Current committee and President also responsible for global warming. I warned them about the serious dangers of too much Carbon dioxide. Now I sit here dreading the polar vortex.
Seriously people take a chill pill, stop slandering just because you are not in the know. Get on board, make things happen in a courteous manner, if there is an issue keep it in house without on-line bitching and stop feeding the Big Fat Troll.

Gotta be around Saturn by now.

Thank you. Clubs have ebbs and flows. Before you're an old wise coach first you have to be a young and dumb one. Time will tell, let's revisit this in 12 months. At the moment Norwood are probably in a better state than a few other clubs.

P Berry must have done that job for 10 years or more I think?

Since then it seems like it's been a revolving door.

Norwood may be better than a few clubs at the moment.

But it wasn't so long ago that they were a part of the big 4 and challenging for champion club.

They might be the best example of what happens when you spend years using all your resources and effort into seniors.

Bring back Jenny Clarke as President, Damian as Coaching Director, Vicki as womens coach and the list goes on The good ol days when they were top boys, girls and junior year on year - and for some of that did not even have a stadium!!!!

Maybe they can get a coach who can actually get off the bench during timeouts

Maybe if the coach hadn't had 2 bulging disc's and was bed bound all week he would have dickhead!

Who is even coaching them now?

And surely if that's was the case the CD would have stepped in and helping out.

Seems strange that all those promises made to certain players to move came to nothing. Wouldn't be real happy if I were them and they got a lemmon coach moving forwards.

Don't waste your time with Norwood. No development plan to encourage juniors to transition to seniors. Poor line-up of coaches and a CD that honestly doesn't do a lot! Stick with Sturt or Forestville if you want value for money and the opportunity to play senior basketball.

lol Foretville. Look at their boys coaching line up. Nothing to write home about either. And results to match.

Curiously how is it structured over there in Adelaide, are the Clubs like our Associations here and do you guys play each other under the SA banner or something like that?

I am presuming this is domestic level basketball, here in Vic we have clubs generally playing under one Association (sometimes they combine), but it sounds like it is very different over there...

Bear,

SA does not have domestic competition. Basketball SA runs all the competitions in all the stadiums and therefore takes all the income from these games. Which are 2-4 court facilities.

Our 'clubs' are the equivalent of your Associations.

SA's biggest club has 56 junior teams total. Vic's biggest associations have over 1000.

The Basketball SA district competition is half the size of Dandenong's domestic competition.

Sturt coaches aren't much better than Forestville especially on the girls side.

On the girls side both clubs have good coaches.

On the boys side Sturt would be far superior and the results would be testament to that.
