WNBL TV deal update

Basketball Australia wants to replica Netball's Channel Ten deal where by the network broadcasts the ANZ Championship in return the network gets a payment by netball's sponsors.

Anthony Moore concedes that there might not be a deal in place by the time the season kicks off in October.

He describes it as 'appalling' that AFL and NRL get massive TV deals and yet the broadcasters aren't willing to fork out the money.

Basketball Australia hopes it can convince a broadcaster to show one live match per week as well as the final series.

Basketball Australia have spoken with all three free-to-air broadcasters.

Imagine if the women get a deal and the guys can't

It's appalling someone thinks what the NBL serves up is worth a big TV deal

^women have the advantage of getting a deal because of the equal opportunity/coverage regulations by the government.

BA and NBL need to get in to bed with some uni/tafe and college programs to have local students set up to film at least for this season via streaming service..

need to modernise the uniforms and maybe hit with a bit of femininity for the womens uniforms.. Not for the men watching but also for other women and the juniors to take interest. I don't like it but we are the most visual of all generations and the uniforms are a part of that and even for sponsorship dollars. Would it be so bad to have a netball style dress with fitted shorts. A good cut is flattering for every shape. Some of the colours and fonts are awful, the worst begin the west coast waves last year.

The only thing netball has over women's basketball is a massive bloody sponsorship deal. Suggesting that women basketballers should copy the attire of netball players as a 'marketing ploy', is beyond LAME. What next? Bring back the bodysuit?

That report that was commissioned on the WNBL was right in one respect at least. The biggest stumbling block to more widespread community recognition of women's basketball has been, and still is the Australian basketball fraternity itself.

Agree with finals995.

And BA's corrupt move to bring Joyce to the top of women's basketball did not help that fraternity.
