Looks like massive lists how many places are available
Won't some players be doing their year twelve why would they move then ? Shouldn't places be available to younger players
Wouldn't they run another camp in Jan to look at the squads again, there are names on the above list who were under performers this week & there given how many chances ?
It's pretty prestigious to make the COE. Have a look at all these fine athletes LOL...
http://www.basketball.net.au/centre-excellence/
C'mon get your acts together FFS!
I just took the lists of Coe players off australiabasket.com (seabl page)
I think will magnay was on the list Until recently also. Not there anymore...
Who makes these decisions the current coach
Or a panel of coaches ??
Another 4 or so Sudanese guys trying out at the ais currently after the south Sudanese basketball tournament earlier on.
It looks like the girls did better in New Zealand then the boys how can these squads continue to improve all players most will be cut from NITP very soon and then what ??these kids will still improve between now and April with some marginal choices made at least on the boys side these lists will change as other players show what they can do at nationals, so will the CEO spots go to only the very tall

Modifying the OP's list I think you'll find the men currently at the COE are:
Wilson/glover/Hodgson
Vasljevic
white/Fullarton/Magnay
Froling/Gak
Perry/ferguson/Colina
And there's only 12 spots.
Gak is leaving soon if he hasn't already for HS/Prep school in the US.
Wilson, Hodgson, White Froling, Perry are all in Year 12. So they will either be leaving or the COE may ask them back for 6 months next year before they head off to College in the US.
I would think they'd like to have some of the bigger kids to stay on to be more competitive in SEABL, so that may be Perry, Froling & White. At least that's what has occurred the last few years.
Also, McVeigh, Blagojevic, Krebs & Hunter did 6 months at the CoE this year and have now left for College in the US.
The CoE sometimes brings in players to play in the SEABL comp to cover for absences (i.e The U19 World Championships this year) and injuries, this is what occurred with Panayiotou, Malauch, Rigoni, Toohey, etc.
Do these players need to be Australian citizens or live in Australia
definately need some more pg development for u17 sides. The world's are only 10 months away...
Some other spots like boys bigs and forwards for girls.
Simmons and magbegor only girls from u17 who are at Coe?
Hearing at least 50% turnover in the girls program which aligns with earlier post.
You would expect that most of those places would go to the girls who just won in NZ, and from this years AUSCamp.
Is this development for the u17's or to give the players waiting for college something to do for six months
Haven looked at some of the list of the opposition teams for next year shouldn't we be looking at development of the 6.5/6.6 boys with ball skills as guards
Who played for COE tonight might be a good guide
Big supporter of all things Australian Junior Basketball but the CoE is getting more of a joke by the day. It's high time they started realizing the difference between real, proven talent and unproven gambles to stop the exodus of talent to the U.S. system.
Interesting about the Sudanese kids getting a gig for a visit why just this group why is it exclusive ?? & is this funded by Sudan or Australia
id love to see a 12 of..
(Made from some good performers at u18 champs/born 98 and younger)
Which makes some of them part of the next u19 worlds crop in 2017...
It's a nice sized squad, athletic, good defenders, speedy and strong.
Probably wouldn't win an seabl game but worth developing them for representative sides and colleges.
5'6 Rocci pg
5'7 Elsworthy pg
5'9 Yaegar sg/pg
6'0 Atwell sg/sf
6'0 Ogier sg/sf
6'0 andriulo sf/sg
6'0 horvat sf/sg
6'1 Maley sf/pf
6'2? Bibby pf/sf
6'2? Hoycard pf/c
6'2? Aokuso c
6'3? brook c
14-15-16y.o girls should be with their families and involved in state based development programs.
The Sudanese are all from Longhorns in Melbourne. Mayan Kiir 6'9, Kuany Kuany 6'6, Gairges Daow 6'4 & Madut Akec 6'5.
Some are already playing HS in the States. Longhorns have produced Mangok Mathiang and Deng Adel both at Louisville. Also Deng Deng at Baylor. Emmannuel Malou is also another from Longhorns who was invited to the try outs for World Uni Games but didn't make the final squad. He's an All American JUCO player.
Kuany Kuany (different to the one above) plays for Charminade who host the Maui tournament on ESPN is another exceptional talent to look at. Check YouTube on all these guys.
A few other names who have played in the tournament for other teams that have been mentioned on this forum are Deng Gak, Kouit Noi and Joseph Acuil.
The Sudanese (South Sudanese Australian National Basketball Association) have 2 tournaments. The National Classic which Luol Deng attended last month and Summer Slam which is held in December. Basketball Victoria uploaded a video on their Facebook a couple days ago promoting the tournament. So much raw talent in these tournaments are super exciting!
Does country have their own association in every sport ??
Yeah she's playing for Oregon Ducks in 2016 with 2 other Aussies. Trinder and vanedenberg.

Interesting list you have put together. I guess it depends what the brief is of the CoE.
Is it it to develop Australian basketballs to be the best when they reach adult/senior level (opals/boomers)
Or is it to develop teams for age worlds like next year's u17s, 2017 u19s
Or just a mixture of lots of priorities.
How many potential Opals in your list?
Yaegar, horvat, maley. potentially Future opals... But need development.
Glover looks very promising.
Both him and McDowell white can make next u19s in 2017.
CoE is all about the next potential Boomer/Opal or Emu/Gem etc..., that is all it is about, period! It is not about developing and improving the individual for the benefit of his or her game, that has been proven time and again. If a kid at the CoE does benefit greatly in their own personal development by going to the CoE it is only because the fit was right in the first place, otherwise they wil just try and fit the player into the system/team no matter how it affects the individual down the track. They only care about results and fidning the next 'big thing' in Aussie basketball!
^^^ What the hell else should it be about. The centre for players who are not very good.
Got Zoolander posting up here.
Why are players leaving early and not taking offers.
Who is in charge of identification of players.
Big problem for 19s in 2017 is that a lot of boys in year 12 this year and will be at college 2016

Anon, who will be in college in 2016, that is eligible for u19's in 2017? Usually not that many, but as has been the case this year, even if there are a few in college or US high school, they always manage to fill positions...
I Humphries
Froling, W White, M Kenyon, know of couple Vic not sure about SA M Cherry and D Gak doing year 12 in states
All descent SA kids in that age group are 2017/18 College start so could do 19 worlds.
Although, I think Rathjen may be 2016/17
Brad Rathjen should get a look in for 19''s how's he been playing for the Pioneers ??
If McDowell white goes to the Coe and they already have glover, wilson and Vasljevic...
I doubt they'll bring in another pg in rathjen.
Bigs currently.
Perry, Colina and ferguson.
So more than likely they'll bring in some sgs, sf's or pf's?
J.white and Fullarton are the only ones currently worth developing.
Potentials?
S.froling, fakira, dalton, runnalls
They should have senior and junior squads like 17/18y.o (prep for college and u19) and 15/16y.o (prep for u17)
48 players total boys and girls.
I know... Dreamin...

After the Oceania games and watching Fakira in Metro comp a couple of times I don't think he is worth pursuing.
Big,yes, but slow and not a lot of skill.
Probably only made Oceania team because the coach was from NSW and he was in NITP with the coach.
His minutes dropped as the week went on in NZ.
The would be better bigs out there.
^ Fakira over Dalton the single worst pick in that u17 team. His numbers at Nationals were ordinary for a very poor NSW Metro team. I know he averaged a lot of rebounds, but who else on that team was he competing with for them? Compared to the rebounding numbers Froling and Runnalls put up competing with each other!
Rathjen has been stepping up and holding his own for the pioneers, exciting prospect.
Have heard that Glover has blown his knee ? That should free up another place.
looking at the box score is that the ACT u18 Brown who played for COE v CAL or the older brother?
if so who's decision is that?

The COE are riddled with injuries at the moment:
Perry, Magnay, Wilson, Glover
Easier and cheaper to play a kid from ACT, especially midweek, when others would have to miss a couple of days of school to play.
I wouldn't read anything into that.
Are the CoE playing today against Hawks and who is in team
I'm hearing rumours the girls offer are out in the last few days.
