Delly/Gibson(or exum if fit for worlds)
Mills/Newley/Goulding
Ingles/Broekhoff
Bairstow/Simmons/Anderson
Bogut/Baynes

Baynes is going to add a lot to this team. Ingles also will add a lot too. I hope Simmons plays, what a beast of a player he already is. Sky is the limit for this guy. If exum is fit I play him instead of Gibbo and Goulding won me over tonight. One issue our team has is high turnovers. If we want to have any chance at the worlds we need to take care of the bball.

u17's, starr and mudronja didnt get minutes so i see them being replaced. Also Dent needs a better backup than Zunic, yes Zunic is good but i would imagine a true point guard stepping in as he is more comfortable in the 2. Possibly Dalton in for fakira if he gets stronger aswell.

Who are some other u17 boys pg's?

Apart from Shelley.. I think both Cubillo and Georges spots could be up for grabs.
Some girls from 00 and 01 are possibilities.
McDowell white, Abel, heal, Andrews and lehmann(99)
Can Goodchild run the point also?

Delly / Exum (if not fit Gibson)
Mills / Newley / Broekhoff
Ingles / Simmons (if not Goulding)
Bairstow / Andersen
Bogut / Baynes / Jawai

You have to Jawai - his size and skill level, as well as the great understanding he has with Mills means he makes more sense than someone like Motum.

If Simmons can't/won't go, take Goulding

Jawai and baynes are the same screen. No need for both...
Anderson can play centre if required.
Motum can stretch the floor... Shoot the 3.

Simmons has to be in the squad.

Jawai and Andersen are terrible defenders can't take both, just one. neither of them seem to be able to set a screen on offense to get players open, Jawai sets a pretty mean screen in the backcourt but Bairstow and Bogut both work well to get shooters open. Andersen provides much more on offence than Jawai.

Goulding looks really smooth on offence, cutting the lanes and is tremendous shooter. It was good to see Newley hits his 3s tonight but he is very inconsistent.

Ingles, Simmons and baynes in.
Jawai, gliddon and one of newley or Goulding out. Simple....
Goulding better offensively.
Newley better defensively.
Newleys experience and ability to play multiple positions should get him over the line.
Don't forget we have 2 pure shooters in mills and Broekhoff already.

Will have to see what they do in gran canaria/melbourne utd.

Will there be changes in all four teams ?

I know we have a need at the 4 spot (assuming Simmons is considered more of a 3), but I haven't seen enough from Bairstow in Aussie colours to make him a lock for me. He has OK touch, but gets bulled around the basket and takes some awkward looking shots. I'd rather have Motum as a stretch 4 for his shooting stroke, and go big with Baynes/Bogut when going up against size.

I'd roll out:

Delly/Mills
Ingles/Exum
Simmons/Broekhoff
Andersen/Motum
Bogut/Baynes

Other two players would depend on Exum's availability - Jawai, Newley, Goulding, Bairstow, and Gibson would be in that conversation.

I think trying to select a final 12 a year out from competition isn't terribly helpful. I think a squad of "x" to have the 12 chosen from makes more sense. You never know whats gonna happen with injuries, form, availability etc.

For mine the group looks like this

Guards: Mills, Delly, Exum, Gibson, Martin, Gliddon
Wings: Ingles, Broekhoff, Goulding, Newley, Blanchfield
Bigs: Bogut, Baynes, Jawai, Motum, Bairstow, Simmons, Andersen

Cant really see anyone outside of that group making it, but I'd say each of those 18 are possibilities of being there (some obviously more so than others).

Isn't there a rule on this site that kids under the age of 18 are not named and discussed?

Bogut/Baynes
Motum/Bairstow
Ingles/Simmons/Broekhoff
Mills/Newley/Goulding
Delly/Exum

This would be my preferred team with Ingles playing a fair bit of the point forward role.

Andersen has had a few good games but his form in the world cup makes me hesitant to put him in the team.

Can you see Goulding guarding harden, Thompson or any solid 6'6-6'7 sg in Europe?

His a massive liability on defence and he hasn't been getting looks from deep.
Besides... Broekhoff is bigger (6'7), a better defender, rebounder and shooter.
Newley who also is 6'7 is a better defender than Goulding and can play multiple roles.
The only thing Goulding has over newley is shooting. But we have a bunch of descent outside shooters already in delly, mills, Broekhoff, ingles, motum and Anderson who can all more than 1 position.

I cannot see Goulding making the team.

I've been watching u16 euro champs Mens and women's on YouTube.
Majority of teams look 2-3 steps above us at junior level...
Some of the division 2 teams are better.
Check em out if you've got the time....

Something to do with them being part of junior euro league programs and facing consistent tough competition on a regular basis?

Dellavedova/Exum
Mills/Broekhoff/Goulding
Ingles/Newley
Bairstow/Andersen/Simmons
Bogut/Baynes

Think Simmons is a 4 so between Goulding and Motum imo. Gibbo in if Exum out injured.

In the u16 euro women's...

Out of the current top 12. Everyone except Belgium so far.
Even though some of the teams are much smaller, they move the ball around very very well. All the guards look asthough they can shoot consistently, dribble the ball with both hands and penetrate. the bigs do have some descent post moves and actually are actively going after the ball all the time. No ball watching.
All round defense is good and they put a lot of pressure on the ball carriers.

The 6'4 sg from Hungary and ogun from Russia seem to be the standouts so far.
