Can somone tell me.

Is it very common for a basketball game to have a foul count of 4 for one team and 26 for the other?

Quite common - especially when one team fouls 26 times and the other only 4

sounds very similar to alot of games I have been involved in but I shouldn't elaborate for we might hurt umpires feelings.

I depends on what defence a team is playing and who is controlling the game. A few years back North mostly played full court trap's, where Norwood would run zone, Dean Kingsman even said " a team that runs a trap is more likely to get more fould than team that plays a zone".
